We're getting married on October 17, 2009 and expect to have around 50 guests for the ceremony and reception. My first choice was the Olowalu Estate but they are booked unfortunately.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We've never been to Maui so I'm completely relying on the internet and photos.

I know the resorts can accommodate that many people but theirs costs are soo high!

Thanks everyone!

so I take it you would like to get married on the beach and then have a reception to follow?

here is a website that will walk you through the permit process. Permit for Beach Wedding — Department of Land and Natural Resources

this might work... http://www.seawatchrestaurant.com/

if you use the search function on the top menu bar and enter maui wedding or maui reception you will find tons of info...

good luck

Um.....I wanted the Seawatch (Makena), but it wasn't avail for my date. I went to the Five Palms Grill (Kihei). It was amazing. They have a grassy knoll with the ocean within spittin distance which is available for the ceremony. The GM is Shawn (my hubby's namesake) and bended over backwards to accomodate.

I'd be happy to refer my WP Lisa with Enchanted Weddings of Maui. Enchanted Weddings of Maui - Welcome!

Good luck....and happy planning.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Maui will make for a beautiful backdrop for your wedding. We went there for our honeymoon 4yrs ago and loved every minute of it. We'll be there again in March and can harldy wait for a few days of vacation and to scout out new wedding photo locations! I'm sure you'll find lots of great ideas on the forum, but I'll try to think of a few places to help you out. I'll be in touch soon!

Hey! We are getting married in Mau October 14th, 2009! Only three days away from each other. Nice.

Orginally, we wanted a public beach, but now they have an ordinance where some beaches have restrictions on the number of people that can converge. We found a private estate called Kalaeokai'a which is a private estate on West Maui. The fee was $1000 for using the grounds. Our wedding coordinator, Lori (Scott) Lawrence with Tropical Maui Weddings, said that renting out part of their estate helps the family keep their ocean front land. It looks beautiful. You can find pictures of the estate here: http://tmaui.info/

The other private estates near Kihei were way out of our price range for a small wedding of 25 people ($2500 to $5000), so we were extremely happy with our find. Now, we can have a private beach for our photos, and we will be able to bring our own champagne for the guest, since it is not considered a private beach.

It is a 45 minute drive North of Kihei, but the drive was worth it to us!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
