Air Jamaica just canceled my flight! Do I stay with them or switch?

So my travel agent just notified me that Air JA canceled my flight. frown.gif

She said I could switch the flight to the next day (which would be fine with me since we were going out there to spend a few days before the wedding anyway), or I could switch to US Air and fly both ways with a stop/transfer in Charlotte.

I am definitely trying to get a nonstop flight so I am inclined to stick with Air JA.... but now I'm nervous since we're 6 months out and they're already dropping flights!

Should I worry about sticking with Air JA? (I really want a nonstop flight but I'm nervous that they'll cancel again...)

**UPDATE** I now wish I had not recommended that ANYBODY book with Air Jamaica, but at the time they were offering the only nonstop flight from Chicago to Montego Bay, and we all wanted nonstop flights if available...

Now I just found out that they canceled the return flight for MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY! That doesn't make any sense-- that's the whole reason folks take advantage of traveling on the holiday weekend.

My FBIL, FI's cousins, and my parents were all bumped to the Sunday flight. what.gif Defeats the entire purpose of the long weekend. I am SO annoyed. rant.gif

I'm so sorry! Air Jamaica is possibly the worst airline we've ever flown, going and coming home. They didn't cancel our flights but the plane was very dated and the crew was less than hospitable...and it's hard for me to speak negatively about anything related to Jamaica because we love Jamaica, but it's true from our experience. All we could do was laugh so we didn't get upset.

Anyway, if it's not too late to change carriers I wouldn't try and change your mind!

Good luck! I don't know if they've cut that Monday flight on other routes or just Chicago....

My travel agent told me that they canceled the return flight to Chicago on Memorial Day Monday because they had concerns about flying back empty or close to empty on Tuesday. rant.gif

She tentatively rebooked everybody (my parents, FI's brother & cousins) to fly back Sunday but that defeats the whole purpose of the long holiday weekend! They'd all have to leave the day after the wedding.

She had meetings in JA last week and said she'd continue to plead our case, so I'm waiting for her to get back to figure out exactly what we're going to do....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
