Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of a simple beach wedding but have since decided against it, mostly due to the wind. Anyone else worried about rain? I mean, you spend all this money for the ambiance of a wedding near the ocean, only to have it rain, messing up beach pictures, etc.?

Alex-

Thanks for the picture posts! You look so beautiful!!!

You can tell the similarities in the photography style to those samples of David Penas. The color saturation is almost richer. They turned out beautifully.

Thanks for the insight about giving him direction. I've started compiling a mini scrapbook of specific shots that I want, including breaking them down to pre-ceremony preparation, ceremony shots, non-traditional ceremony shots, and bride & groom shots. Hopefully I don't come across as telling him how to do his job. Because we've opted to forego a fancy reception in lieu of an AHR, we've been told that we may use the 2 hours of "reception" time from the upgraded E photo package for the pre-wedding preparations instead.

It is a concern, but all the outdoor weddings have an indoor back-up location. That is what ended happening to us, but I do have to say that it worked out perfectly for us. We were outside for the ceremony and cocktail hour. My the time the reception was supposed to start, it was REALLY dark out there (6ish). Having to go indoors is not the worst thing in the world. As long as you get to do your ceremony and cocktail hour outside, you will be OK.

Thank you everyone for your responses to my original questions about the beach weddings and my horrible tattoo.

I will definitely be asking my WC to book me a gazebo in case I choose to switch once I get there.

It sounds like the wind, seaweed, and cost are the major factors for people choosing not to do a beach wedding. I am a little concerned about all of those things, not to mention the sturdiness of the runner when it comes to foot attire.

So now my new question would be...which gazebo does everyone recommend and are there still only the two gazebos as a choice?

KLO-

If the resort's wedding availability per their website is any indication, I would expedite your choice because there appear to be a total of five other events going on December 10th. If you haven't already seen the resorts ceremony location document (Adobe file attached), it has photos of each area attached. The Tucan appears to be about the same as the Bubga with the white arch, but with a longer walkway leading to it, and the Chapel (which you are allowed to use as long as no one else has already reserved it for a Catholic ceremony) has pews in lieu of white chairs. The chapel also has pretty little ponds next to it with a bridge and plexiglass to block the wind. There is also the option of having the ceremony on one of the terraces.

For anyone who is booking the horse and carriage for your way to the wedding, do you know if the bridesmaids just meet you at the end of the aisle then? I had always thought that I'd be going to the gazebo with my girls, but obviously we can't all fit in that carriage! Would they have a golf cart for transportation or anything, or would they just walk? I'd like there to be something kind of special for them as well.

The lounge set up is through DECO Cancun. I've attached some pictures that I got from Aldo Ameneyro <aldo@decocancun.com>. I suggest you try to negotiate a better price from. I ended up paying a lot less than I was quoted. I gave them my budget and told them what I wanted and it turned out to be a much better deal than when I got the first quote for individual pieces.

Someone was asking about the wedding set up... I also wanted to get married on the beach initially, but when I saw all the seaweed in the beach, I quickly changed my mind. I don't know what it is about the beach where the Moon sits, but it is constantly full of seaweed. I did my site visit back in May and my wedding was 2 weeks ago, and the problem was pretty much the same both times I was there. They do a really good job TRYING to clean it, it in about an hour, it is full of seaweed again. I was at the Moon 6 days and only saw 1 beach wedding the whole time I was there. The beach a few miles south at the Iberostar Grand (where we spent our honeymoon) was so much nicer. It barely had any seaweed.

I would recommend for those of you that want a beach wedding to reserve a gazebo any way. My WC knew that I wanted a beach wedding and told me that she was going to assign me the Tucan gazebo (which I loved!) and then we could decide (when we arrived) if we wanted to change from the gazebo to the beach. You are better off having a gazabo secured in case you absolutely hate what you see.

Hello Ladies

I love this post - it contains so many of my unanswered questions too!

Our reception is being held at Terrace Venado - beautiful right off the beach and a perfect grass area for a lounge set-up.

We would also love to have a lounge set-up - Do you email the posted link directly or can you reserve through your onsite WC? I had advised my WC during a brief telephone conversation of our interest in a lounge set-up. So any info that can be posted is much appeciated!

Horse & Carriage Ride - Bridesmaids & Groomsman Transport to Wedding Ceremony

Ok ladies we also have the H&C ride reserved for my father and myself. What about mother of the bride, bridemaids - photogs & groomsmen? Any info on this is much appreciated - I am going to pose this question to my WC.

Thanks MP Brides

Laura

Are there any Moon Palace brides getting married the last week in March 2009?

Does anyone know if it's always windy in Cancun or is that just a certain time of year? I've also read about mosquitos at night from one post...

Any help on this topic would be appreciated! We've never been to Cancun and I'm trying to be prepared...

I posted a document containing the quote for the lounge set up and pictures on Page 119 of this thread.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
