Riu Cabo Brides: barefoot?

Hey ladies!

I was just in the attire section and there was a debate going on about whether to wear sandals or go barefeet down the aisle. For those you married on the beach in Cabo (especially those from Riu Santa Fe or Palace), is the sand soft enough to walk with your barefeet? What did you and your bridesmaids do?

Go barefoot! Bridesmaids walked down barefoot... and the groomsmen had stuck their flip flops in the sand where they were going to stand. (looked super cute!) Then they put them back on.

I was barefoot the whole time. It was great!

We went down at ceremony time the day before to test it out first!

sorry dont know about the sand at the sheraton, but the sand at riu santa fe was nice, it wasnt super soft but it wasnt all hard and pebbly. i would say if the ceremony is during the hot part of the day then barefoot wouldnt be a great idea, unless you want pics of people hopping around in pain wink.gif

even tho the sand is nice, it still doesnt feel good in your shoes, even in flip-flops, so i would say barefoot. i wore flip flops at our wedding, but the beach we were at (NOT riu santa fe beach) was big and pebbly sand, actually the sand in my siggy pic. so it hurt with or without shoes!

We just got back today!! Our ceremony was at 4:00 on the 14th. The heat is better than in the morning but it was still very hot. I had sweat dripping down the back of my legs standing there.

Also on the barefoot thing - our whole wedding party along with guests left their shoes right where we walked out into the sand. Pretty much everyone was barefoot.....very romantic!

Maybe the pebbles in the sand is not the issue, but in September the heat some days gets insupportable, and maybe the sand will be too hot to walk on it at 4 pm.

I would recommend to have a plan b (nice sandals, just in case) or have the hotel's staff to wet the sand a little bit before the ceremony.

Good luck! smile159.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
