January 2009 Brides Post Here

You definitely aren't crazy. I'm soooo lucky that people are assuming that we'll have all that picked out. As soon as people hear we're going to Mexico to get married, they assume that there aren't details to plan like a wedding at home (and then they act all jealous). I'm loving it!

People are too funny... I have been asked about the details of our wedding as well. Some of the things I know... my dress... food... time, etc. and some of the details I don't know YET... location of ceremony... location of reception. My family and friends are laughing, because I am normally such a control freak about EVERYTHING... yet when it comes to my wedding... I am happy to let others choose for me. I just want to marry the man I love punk.gif

The final pieces are starting to come together...

My dress came in this week... first fitting on December 4

My MOH and FG ordered their dresses

FI picked out and purchased shirt and shoes

Ring bearer pillow came in

Program/fans are being assembled

RSVPs are coming in

We booked our Dunns River Excursion and paid deposit

We chose readers... they picked the pieces they would like to read

We purchased bells for reception

*** Shower this Saturday*** I am very excited!!

Only 1 minor setback... my ring bearer has outgrown his shirt already. No big deal... we will get another smile29.gif

And finally, Stephanie... I know I said I would post a pic of our embroidered towels... I am sorry for the delay... I have the pic. I just need a photobucket account now. Can anyone send a link or info on how to do this?

But starting to wonder what I should get for my girls?
I finally decided to do a special OOt bag for them. I picked up little things like cute sandals, pashmina's, nail polish, t-shirts, I am sewing bathing suit wraps for each of them...nothing cost very much so if anything gets left behind it will be OK. I am still picking up small things every week, so who knows what else will go in it. I decided against necklaces as each of them has a different neck line for their dress and I wasn't sure what would go with all of them.

For my girls I decided to do a pumped up version of the oot bags too. I also paid for their dresses and will probably take them on an excursion while we're in Mexico. I am going to make BM and MOH tank tops for them too. Got the tanks at Old Navy for 5 bucks! Yay, for a good deal!

Today, FI, my brother and I made our first attempt at what they're wearing. We bought a pair of pants. That's as far as we got. lol Oh well, maybe next time.

Hey Ladies,

I haven't written anything here in a long time! I've been so busy. Last week, on Halloweeen, was our wedding social. It went SO well. It was a ton of work but we had over 350 people show up and drink and dance the night away. We ended up having a blast and making a ton of money at the same time!

Now I'm back at wedding planning, and writing report cards sad.gif

Lately I've:

-Chosen GM outfits and just need to order them.

-Found "outfit" for wedding night

-Started sewing passport covers for BM's

-Found bags for BM, just need to order

-Taken my dress to seamstress

-Designed key/money holders

-Designed luggage tags

-Bought new luggage

This Saturday is my first shower!!! Can't wait!

Any ideas for some simple projects I can do next??

I am a January 2009 bride as well. We sent out our invites and travel info a long time ago. Most of our guests are now booked - except the few that will be doing the last-minute-deal thing.

Got my dress, bridesmaid dresses, rings, and most of the documentation in order. We're getting married in Panama, which means long form birth certificates, civil status certificates, notarized passports, police record checks, and more... which are all authenticated by Foreign Affairs and then again by the Panama Consulate. It's a ton of work, but will definitely pay off in the end.

The only things we really need to do is get our documentation finished up, choose our witnesses, and give the resort info on specifically what we want for the ceremony.

Oh yeah... and get wedding favours. What's everyone else doing in that regard?

:) Susannah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
