Thanks, I'll post pics when I get back next week! (I'm going home to MI for my fitting)

Now that Dec is fast approaching, its time we get some major activity on this thread like the Nov thread. the Nov 08 thread has been booming!
Amy, that all sucks! I'd be a little nervous... at least you know they'll take good care of you even if you don't end up at Dreams, right?

Finally you've put up a pic of yourself! I'd come to think of you as that little monkey thing. wink.gif

So I'm having resort issues as of last Friday. I'm getting married at Secrets Capri which is known for its boutique, intimate feel, although it is more on the expensive side. My FI and I chose this resort because they promised us that there would only be one wedding per day, so that's why we were pushed to make our reservation early to confirm our wedding date. Well, I found out Friday that not only will there be another wedding the same day of mine, but also during the SAME TIME. I'm 100% pissed because now I will have to split staff resources throughout the day, which increases the chance of something going wrong.

Also, the WC was not planning on telling me if I didn't come out and ask her (because of some of her responses to my requests) if she was organizing another wedding. If I could I would change my location because this is not what I signed up for. I did not want to have anyone splitting time between my wedding and someone else's and I know they did not confirm my wedding date before us because we made our reservations about 10 months ago & the WC promised that we were the only wedding.

Am I over-reacting to all of this? I just feel cheated!!

Nope. you are not overreacting. That is bs. I would be really pissed off.

I think you should demand some kind of reimbursement. But maybe after the wedding wink.gif You want them to be on their best behaviour, KWIM?

Wow...
I'm getting married at Secrets Maroma, and I was told up front they allow two weddings a day, but NOT at the SAME time!
So I guess Secrets Capri was/is a little different in that they said they only do ONE wedding a day...(or is it possible your WC messed up by telling you they only do one in the first place...?)

Do you have any e-mails where your WC says there's only ONE a day and confirms yours is the only one on your date...?
If so, I would forward that back to her and firmly ask for an answer as to why this has changed and how they're going to fix it b/c that was why you chose to have your dream day at their resort AND spend all the money you'll be spending....

If that doesn't do anything, I would send those e-mails AND the response from the WC to the general manager of the hotel. And then call the general manager to make sure he got your e-mail and is taking you seriously. This is totally NOT acceptable!

Also, I am wondering if the reason there are now suddenly two weddings on your day is b/c a Dreams Tulum bride got moved there...
I asked my WC at Secrets Maroma about this, and she said there have been some DT brides moved there, but that even if there's a wedding the same day, it would not be at the same time...(i.e. we're getting married at sunset...so they'd only allow another wedding in the morning or afternoon...)
You might want to ask your WC about this, and also the general manager if it gets that far...

If this is the case, if it IS a DT bride that's been moved last minute, they should at least change the TIME of that wedding. Not to be unfair to the DT brides, who I know are going through hell right now, but it's also not fair to you, who booked 10 months ago!!

Wow. That was waaaay longer than I meant it to be:-)

Basically, what I'm saying is...YOU GO GIRL! Unleash the inner bridezilla:-)

I'm so glad that I'm not being overdramatic. I knew you girls would understand!! We have already asked for a percentage off of the wedding package that we are purchasing since the staff will have to split their time between events. Still waiting to hear back from the WC on what they are going to do.

I have documentation that states that she has blocked off the day off for our wedding & the time. We have already sent that to the WC. I'm also using destinationweddings.com & my TA has gotten their people involved because she highly recommended this resort and doesn't want to ruin her reputation around it. So I am fighting to have my day like I had planned. I understand if it was a DT bride, but they should have told me what was going on & not schedule it at the same time...especially since the resort is small & I can't have my reception by the pool because apparently the other bride wants that location smile41.gif I really hope things work out w/out us having to go to the general manager.

I will keep you ladies posted!!

I just wanted to clarify, in case I came across as sounding harsh about the possibility of a DT bride being moved to your resort...:-)

As I said, I know the DT brides are going through hell right now and SHOULD be acommodated at another resort!

My only point was, that the resort shouldn't allow two weddings at the SAME time....Sigh jerry.gif

Simistar: No worries! I read it like that too! It was a good point - we do know that a lot of that is happening right now.
If that's what's going on, they should have no trouble explaining that and arranging the relocated bride's schedule around the already booked wedding. I'm sure we'd all be a lot more understanding if that were the case.

(RE: original poster) It sounds good that you have some people on your side to fight for you!

So ladies! What's uphuh.gif

I struck another huge item off the list yesterday: I went for my first fitting and left my dress with the seamstress (sob)!

It took an HOUR for her to get all the pins in and it's going to cost a whopping $300. smile105.gif The skirt is complicated. It turns out the tulle over the train comes out like almost in extra wings... and there is lace on the tulle in pattern. To preserve this, she's making something ridiculous like 6 or 7 bustles (some under and some over). It looked gorgeous though!

I go in for my second fitting on the 15th and she said I could pick it up on the 17th of November.

I'm a little worried because that is nearly a month before the wedding. What if I gain weight? What if I lose a ton of weighthuh.gif

AHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRR

Nonetheless it's done. And FI got his pants taken up today too.

Lots to do, but something done. YAY!

How are you all holding up?

Yay Kevsgirl! Going for a fitting!

I think I'm going in about two weeks...maybe sooner...but I'm worried about the same thing...losing/gaining weight!smile117.gif

I am actually a little bit nervous about the whole getting-the-dress-altered-thing...weird, right? I'm just worried something horrible will happen...I've read some horror stories, and I really wish I hadn't, b/c otherwise I don't think I would give it another thought:-)

I'm actually also worried about how much the alterations will cost! But $300 sounds about average...if I have to pay $300, I'm okay with that...it's if I have to pay $500 or more that I won't be happy:-)

Kevsgirl -- did you just go through the bridal salon...?

My FI FINALLY figured out what he's going to wear! Whoo-hoo! That's a BIG thing off the to-do list...My FI is like a two-year-old that way...doesn't do ANYTHING unless I nag him, haha:-)

Also, I finally have the first dress I ordered...I have to take some pics of me in that dress so I can sell it!

But my FI won't help me with that (he says he doesn't want to see what i'm NOT wearing b/c it might give him hints as to what I AM wearing:-)), so I have to wait for my girlfriend to come over and take pics:-)

Other than that, I've mostly been busy with getting timelines done for various vendors etc....

And getting excited about going to Mexico! Whooo!!!!

How 'bout the other ladies??

Amy...I REALLY hope DT has told you SOMETHING by now about where your wedding will be...? pokestick.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
