I have a question for everyone. Does anyone know if you can use your reception dinner for the Welcome Dinner the night before the wedding, if you are paying for a private reception? 1/2 my guests are arriving the night before the wedding and I wanted to have a group dinner but I will not pay another 75$ per person for it so I am hoping that they let me use my free dinner.
Fabio sent me that picture on 10/15. I didn't even ask for it at the time even though I had been asking over and over again about location options and capacities to no avail. I must send the guy 4 emails a week with various questions -- all of which take weeks to get a response. He just sent me this picture as an attachment to another question I had on food options.

I am going on my site visit on Dec. 5 and that day cannot come quick enough! I feel like so many of my decisions are being held off until I can actually see the place and get a sense of where my reception will be held. Hopefully that central courtyard will be somewhat private for an event even though it looks like it is plopped right in the middle of the resort for everyone to walk by and gawk at.

I have a question for any girls thinking about or planning flowers. I've read (from many of you) that the resort is flexible with taking photos of flower arrangements that you like from magazine cut-outs, etc and re-creating those arrangements for your wedding. The question is, at what costhuh.gif Lomas Travel has their website with a limited selection of flower arrangements for centerpieces and bouquets so I'm curious as to how a more customized arrangement might price out compared to what they have listed. Has anyone started dealing with the on-site coordinators (or Fabio or Nancy) about flowers and how has that experience been?

Likewise, is there any choice/flexibility with the wedding cake? It seems like they have a very generic "1-tier" "2-tier" "3-tier" listing of cakes in a generic selection of flavors. From a "gourmet inclusive" hotel, this surprises me a little. Cake isn't going to be a huge deal-breaker for me at the end of the day, but it would be nice to know if they can pull together something nice that likewise tastes good.

A question to throw out there on food options. For those planning a private event, if you've looked at the most recent Event Kit, they have listed a number of "Set Menu" selections already designed as 3 course meals, which actually look really tasty. Does anyone know if we have to get our guests selections (meat, chicken, fish, veggie) prior to the wedding or does having a "Set Menu" give the guests the ability to make a table-side decision on which main entree they'd like to pick?

On a totally different topic, I'd like to share with everyone a great website I found that sells paper lanterns and other fun party decor items. Party & Wedding - Paper Lanterns, Parasols, Fans, Candle Holders, String Lights (Paper Lantern). If you don't already know about this site, it's worth checking out. I hope to buy up a bunch of lanterns and use them to decorate (I read from someone else that the hotel will allow you to string the lanterns across the courtyard by attaching them to the palm trees, is this correct?). With the uplighting on the trees, some votive candles on tables, lanterns (with lights) above, I feel like this could be a really gorgeous location.

Anyone have any comments on the condition/beauty of the beach on the property? I've read so many great comments on how amazing the beaches are in Tulum, but not much on Puerto Morelos. I hope it is nice.

And this is where I end my random stream of comments and questions...

Hi Joanna - I will answer what I do know for you.

The picture that Fabio sent you with the round area surrounded by palm trees is right in the middle of the resort. On either side of this setup are rows of rooms.

As far as food, you do need to have your guests choices for which entree they choose. Carolina said we could have different colored place cards (i.e. fish=purple and steak=white) or the entree stated on the name card. And this must be in 45 days b/f your wedding date.

Love the website with the lanterns. When we did our site visit Carolina mentioned that we could do lanterns. But I have not gotten approval from Fabio about it. So I know that getting his approval is very important. My wedding isn't for another year, so I haven't asked Fabio yet. Does anyone else out there know if Fabio/Nancy have approved lanterns? I agree with you, Joanna, that lanterns would be so beautiful!

I did see the beach in Puerto Morelos, it is very pretty. With fine white sand. There was a lot of seaweed, but I read that this is local to the entire coast. And some resorts make sure to do a clean up of the seaweed before the ceremony. Don't know about Sensatori.

Here is a pic that we took at Azul Beach - which is right down from Sensatori. Please excuse our feet :)

I am currently using destinationweddings.com and I'll agree with the ladies who said they used them and had a bad experience. When I first started using them, our TA was just horrible. He sent my guests quotes for a whole other wedding....in January! We are getting married in May! I compained enough and now I have Joani (I think Amy Steele on this thread is using her as well) and she is awesome! She has been super responsive and has answered all of my questions and even called Lomas, Apple or anyone she needed to in order to get an answer for me. I guess it depends on the TA assigned to your wedding. If you can choose, I would highly reccommend Joani!!!

I just put my TA's info, our wedding website, and the hotels website. I figure between the three they will get the info that they need. My TA said that she has had a lot of calls, and the hotel website list everything for them. I also added the video of the sensatori to our wedding website to give the guest a better idea of what to expect. The details will be in the passport invites that I am doing, and some with the bag tags as well.

Hello Girls ...

Before I start I just wanna say that my question mark on my keyboard isn't working ... BOOO! So that's why there's none throughout my message :0)

I've recently found the Sensatori in one of our holiday brochures (UK) and it looks the ideal place for me and my partner to get married at! Totally love it, it's everything that we could want from a hotel ... So looking forward to reading reviews ... feel sorry for the first person to get married there, they're going to be inundated with questions!

I was wondering if any of you had any information that you've been emailed and could forward onto me - even fabio's email address would be great ... we'll be traveling all the way from Edinburgh in Scotland with friends and family so want to find out as much as possible so people will say they'll definitely come!

I'm totally gutted that you can't use Del Sol photography - they look amazing ... has anyone inquired about having Del Sol for a 'Trash the Dress' session at the beach ... just that's not in the hotel, the 'Trash the Dress' looks amazing to me .. totally want to do it! Trying to convince my partner that it's a good idea! It'll be nice to show the real us in photo's splashing around in the water and stuff ... not just your typical posing photos!

Is anyone just going for the meal in the restaurant - or are you all going for private functions ... I like the idea of a cocktail party - but not too sure how the speeches and stuff would work ... Do you think it's cheap going for the meal in one of the AI reastaurants

Also, when you book a wedding package do you get the honeymoon suite included, or do you have to pay mega bucks for it ...

Big hugz from a wanna-be Sansatori bride ... (as long as I can get enough info and make this place look fab to my partner ... we're there :0) )

Response:

I looked into have Del Sol do just my TTD. It's pricey but worth it. The only problem I was having is that she couldn't confirm the date with me until it got closer because if they ended up getting a wedding to shoot she wouldn't be able to do my TTD (obviously the wedding packages are more than the TTD, so I'm sure that's for business reasons).

I didn't want to wait because having TTD was important to me. So I chose to have Elizabeth Medina be my wedding photographer and am using her for TTD the next day too. I think the quality of her work is equal to Del Sol, just a different vibe.

Hope that helps!

How did you get your money back?
Hey Abby,

I emailed my TA's regional manager, it's the person who should have emailed you in the beginning (before your TA) Ours was Sarah something. I told her that we were not satisfied with their service, gave some examples, they'll ask you if you would like to try someone else. You say no, then they forward your email to an HR person who will contact you when they refund your deposit. It takes like two weeks.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions :)

i need to update our wedding date.

we just got confirmation from the judge, our wedding will be on October 1st now. The tour operator misquoted the departure date, so instead of leaving on the 29th of sept like i thought, we're actually leaving on the 26th.

now... better go update my ticker now :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
