Hey Kat...Or actually anyone else who has been to Dreams Cancun...I have a question for you. (Again :-)

I was just reading about a Mexican Restaurant, next door or something called, Paloma Bonita....Do you know anything about this place? Is it actually a part of dreams?? I was thinking of maybe my Welcome/Rehearsal Dinner there..Any reviews on it would be appreciated!! :-)

paloma bonita is right outside of dreams, and is NOT included as part of the AI. from what i've heard the food and service are great, but pricey.

I have a question...i've looked through the blog but i may have missed this, so i'm sorry if i'm repeating something that has already been discussed...

Do the packages at Dreams Cancun include a legal wedding ceremony or is it just a symbolic ceremony? And do they help you with getting the blood tests/chest xrays that you have to have to get married in Mexico?

Thanks!

You can do a legal ceremony with the packages, but the fees for blood tests/translations/legalizations are not included in those package prices. Those are extra and total about $650-$700. The blood tests have to be done in Mexico, and will be done by a doctor they provide who comes to you at the resort (in fact I believe the blood test is done in your room at 8am the morning after you arrive?). You don't have to go anywhere off property in Mexico for any of the legal arrangements ... they arrange everything for you.

Hey Ladies!

Thought I'd just post answers to some of your questions.

When I wanted to substitute something for the photographer, what I did was figure out what I needed that wasn't included in the package and then I put a list together of what I thought was comparable and emailed her.

So I think I asked for a larger cake, chair bows, & gazebo decor? If I remember correctly. She let me have the gazebo decor and the larger cake, but no chair bows. I don't know if it was really an even trade, but at least I got the additional things I needed without paying extra for them.

And as someone mentioned, there is no day pass fee for claudia rodriguez or her associates.

Oh, and the video, I really didn't care about having a video at all, and only took it because it came with the package, but honestly the video was so much better than I ever anticipated. He did a great job with it, I believe it is claudia rodriguez's husband that does the videos at dreams, Michael Cantrell (I think that's his name, I'm just going off of memory right now!)

I know I had more I wanted to say, but I think I'll have to go back and look at the posts, feel free to let me know if anyone has any questions!

i think the reason she won't offer other items as trade for not using juan navarro for photography is that many of those other items are from outside vendors. maybe the only things she can "trade" are those things that come from the resort itself? at least that's the only thing that makes sense to me at all!

this is what i'm sending her:

Claudia,

I appreciate your fast reply.

With all due respect, "gazebo drapery only" is not comparable in price to Juan Navarro's photography, and therefore is not an acceptable or fair credit. If we chose not to use Juan Navarro, we should in exchange be receiving a credit valued at $600 (the cost of his package). What else (besides gazebo drapery) can possibly be traded if we do not want to use Juan Navarro for photography? For instance, could we trade for "gazebo drapery AND a longer upgraded video package" instead?

i'll let you ladies know the outcome!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
