Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

You would think that the policies from one resort to another would all pretty much be the same, since they're owned by a corporation, not a bunch of individuals. I guess it's somewhat difficult working with a resort that technically is not even "open" yet, and then with all the DT problems; I think maybe their focus has shifted a bit. I think things may be clearer once they open and get the DT situation straightened out.

I got on line last night and there are alot of really neat restaurants in PA and Playa Del Carmen that cater weddings. I asked for some quotes and what they have to offer just to compare with the wedding packages from the resort. I think also they are so busy with trying to open and dealing with issues with Dreams Tulum that things will change after they open. I also got into a local newspaper and they are also closing down some hotels in Cancun. Apparently these hotels are operating without the proper permits and the government is cracking down. I'm thinking maybe just having the reception at the restaurant, hopefully there is a pretty terrace, that's what I really had my heart set on. I just want it to be elegant and fun for everyone. I am just too confused! Well have a great day and I will keep in touch.

If you can suggest any off site restaurant options, I would love to hear it! The only one that I really saw was La Casa Del Agua and Ajua or something... and Turtle something for Cakes...

I really wanted to have my menu set or at least decide if we are going to have steak, chicken, fish, etc... I am going to print out my invitations on Friday, so I wanted to include this on the RSVP card...

We also checked out having the reception at a restaurant, but when you figured in the cost of liquor (which was the big ticket item); it became pretty expensive. A lot of the places also only offered "well" and local liquors and my niece is pretty picky about her alcohol.smile120.gif

Alcohol is a consideration for us, most of the people going are drinkers, that is why I am tossing around the idea of just doing the $20 p/person for the restaurant, if DPA is gonna offer it, especially if our group stays this small. Others are trying to save up to book but I am not counting on it.

Bianca,

I saw that you're looking at Catalonia for your wedding. You said DPA is nickle and diming. Can you tell me what items they're trying to charge for? My niece booked the Ultimate package and knows she has to pay for the additional 20 people for the cocktail hour and reception. Also, I believe chair covers for 20 are covered and chair bows are not included at all. What else is there a charge for? She is on a fairly limited budget and things have been cropping up that she didn't account for.

Thanks!!

Its not necessarily that they are nickle and diming me... but they act as if there is no room for customization. It does bother me a bit that the chair covers in the Ultimate package are only for the ceremony... but besides that! I'm not sure how much they charge for chair covers, but you can buy them for about $2 a piece. The package only includes one entree. What wedding only gives one option? I want to offer two. Additional charge. Any changes to the menu. Additional charge. Chair covers for the reception. Additional charge. Then the thing about where the reception can be... Something about groups larger than 8 can't be in the restaurants? Idunno...

I just feel like some requests I have made like 2 entree selections and the chair covers at the reception, shouldn't be a big deal. I know they weren't at another resort (DT) and maybe I was spoiled. In the end, its my wedding day and I'm going to get what I want and its going to be perfect. I'm just going to stop thinking about the cost... :)

hi ladies...i'm a DT bride that may wind up getting moved so I've been checking out your thread. i saw pics on the website that showed this great open palapa area/restaurant and was wondering if anyone knows if this is available for wedding dinner/receptions with music and dancing. I noticed that you've mentioned that you can't have your dinner in the restaurants if you have more than 8 people, so just wondering if the area I'm referring to is actually a restaurant...?

also, the deal with being charged for the white chair covers seems ridiculous to me, but i'm not sweating the small stuff at this point...i'm more concerned with actually having somewhere to get married :)

thanks so much ladies!!!

I'm pretty sure that big restaurant is El Patio. I wouldn't worry about the restaurant thing... I have just been hearing two different things from two different coordinators. I;m pretty sure one of the WC, Natalia, is working at DT now... Shes the one that I like.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
