So Jess, give us an update! How did people react to those invitations? I'm dieing to know since I'd LOOOOVE to get that in the mail. You did an awesome job! I hope you don't mind, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to steal your idea! lol. What did you use as a backing for them?

Everybody LOVED them. I got a ton of compliments on them. So, all the hard work was definitely worth it. Thanks for asking.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "backing" do you mean the cloth padding/backing or the pink mulberry paper? If you're asking about the mulberry paper here is the link...Cranberry

The cloth part was 2 pieces of cloth with fusible batting in the middle.

I think I covered all of the possible backings. Let me know if I didn't answer your question.

Hmm, Jess - I was actually wondering what you have "inside" to keep it from being so flimsy, but it still folds very much. Ugh, crappy wording. ... what did you put under the batting?

hmmm...still not clear on the question, but let me try to answer it anyway...

okay, first there is the box, then inside the box there is the padding, which is two pieces of fabric sandwiching fusible batting. I ironed the batting onto the wrong sides of the fabric to make make a sandwich. Then I folded them and put them under something heavy like a dictionary to crease the folds so that the "padding" would stay in place when the box was opened and not instantly open up as it would without the crease.

Then for the actual invitation. It is just a piece of handmade mulberry paper toren to size and the bottom folded up. Then I tacked the wavy paper in place which gave the invitation a little more stability. And then the inserts also added stability to the sides of the invitation.

No problem. We're going make sure you get it. The light pink and white flowery part under the actual invitation is 2 pieces of fabric with batting in between. You can see it in the picture...

The folder part is just the mulberry paper....it is a little flimsy but not too bad. Please disregard my messing workspace in the background.
