WISCO4..I'm back and I'm married!

Okay so I've been back since last Tuesday, and I know I haven't been on here all that much in the last 6 months or so but I thought I could share some of my reviews.

So where to begin!?

Ceremony and reception: Sunset da Mona Lisa A+

Our wedding was unbelievable! I cannot get over how perfect everything was from the food, to the view, to the service...everything was wonderful. We originally worked with Emma from SML to set everything up but she wasn't there the day of so I don't know if maybe she isn't with them anymore or what? But Peter, the event manager, took great care of us..he even drove us down to the beach for pictures! Getting everything set up with them was fairly easy but mostly because our WC did the negotiating. The food was so good, we had guests telling us all night how great the steak was. We also had the spicy spaghetti and jumbo shrimp and the pasta with broccoli, tomato sauce and lemon zest as options. All were very good. The waiters and bartenders were very attentive. At one point I went up to the bar for a glass of champagne and the bartender gave me the whole bottle and a chilled glass! Also, we had originally been told by Emma that our 'buy out' meant everything outdoors, but the indoor dining room would still be in use by regular customers. That wasn't the case, thankfully. They had the indoor, air-conditioned room open for us. It was so nice to freshen up in there before walking down the aisle. Not to mention all the bridesmaids kept their totes in there the entire night without having to worry about it and it was a haven for those guest looking to cool down. There is so much more to say about this beautiful venue but I'll have to let the pictures do the talking. I'll post those as I get them.

Wedding Coordinator: Amy Abbott from FLC A++

Amy from Fiesta Los Cabos was our coordinator and she was GOD SENT! Seriously, she is the most attentive, sweet and creative person I know. She took my vision and made it happen..above and beyond what I could've even imagined. She and her assistants were so on top of everything, we could never have done it without them. From the moment she met us in the lobby of our hotel back in September of '07 to take us on site visits to queing the fireworks guy via cell phone to start when we kissed, to helping me into the taxi at the end of the night...she was there. Her assistant even brought all of our stuff (extra programs, sand ceremony stuff, my gown..) to the resort and it was in the room when we got back from the wedding! Amazing that's all I can say. Well worth the $$!!!!

Flowers: The Flower Cart A

The only reason they didn't get a + is because my bridesmaid bouquets were supposed to have blue and green hydrangeas as well as green cymbidiums but they were only all green flowers. I was a little bummed because my groomsmens shirts were blue but everything was still beautiful and my bouquet was perfect. They also provided huge floral arrangements on either side of our 'alter' and hydrangeas flanked our aisle and ceremony area and they were great.

Resort: Riu Palace and Riu Santa Fe A

We offered our guests the option of staying at either of the two Riu resorts so that more folks would be able to afford the trip. If I had it to do again, I would've had everyone stay at one place. The Santa Fe was very nice and there wasn't much difference between there and the Palace in my opinion. In fact, the rooms at the Santa Fe were much newer and cleaner with more updated decor. We spent a lot of time at the Santa Fe including throwing a welcome party at La Mision (the mexican restaurant's terrace). I had a heck of a time trying to get in touch with someone in the groups department when I was in the states but I finally found Juventino Ramos. He works at the Palace and he rocks. Once there, he met us at the front desk upon check in and was there for us (as well as the groups manager, Victor) for the rest of the trip. They made sure that our WC and photographer got into the resort without any hassle. They orchestrated the distribution of our welcome bags between both resorts. They set up our welcome party AND brought in my husbands favorite beer (XX) even though they don't serve it at the resort normally. And they made sure we were happy, that's the most important thing. Not to mention, the resort is beautiful! We stayed in the jacuzzi suite, which had not only a jacuzzi tub in the room, but a second story open-air hottub on a 360 view terrace! We had the BEST view of lands end...so romantic hug2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
