We are getting married on February 4, 2009 at the Riu Jalisco. I had a couple questions for anyone who may know the answersask away! cheesy.gif

1. We wanted our ceremony on the beach and I was wondering if there were options for the type of "covering" for ministers table and our wedding party. I was hoping for more than just a couple palm fronds, more like white fabric and a little more substanceAt the time they didn't offer anything else... but who knows perhaps they have more options with DW's becoming more and more popular every day. I know some of our fellow BDW gals have made covering with white fabric and they turned out nice.

2. We really want a string trio/quartet and I have seen on another site that it was an option in PV, but I wanted to be sure we could really get that as I have my heart set on it =)
Yes, I am sure they offer the trio for weddings. I can't seem to find the pricing on it though. I'm thinking it was $250ish?
3. Was your cake easy to choose, meaning a number of options? There were 4 options to chose from chocolate, strawberry, coffee and vanilla. Not much of a choice. I've heard the vendor "pie in the sky" is excellent though if you're interested in outsourcing.

Thank you so much for any information you can provide
Hopefully I helped out a bit.

Hey again Raeka!

Just a few more questions.

I know you brought your own photographer, did you try substituting out the photographer in the package (I know he was there in the end)? I want to switch out the photographer for a DJ, and while I know they will do it for smaller items, I'm wondering if they shot you down on this one.

Another question: Did they have like a hors devoures (no idea how you spell that) option? For example, to serve appetizers on the beach after the wedding? (We get married at 1, so trying to fill up the day!).

Thank you!

NO actually I asked them to cancel to photography package because I was brining in my own photographer BUT he still made an appearance for some reason. It really ticked me off because he was getting in the way of my photographer that I paid when I requested we didn't need his services. I didn't even see his photos so I really don't know why he was there. To answer your question though, no, they would not swap us out on that package. But you can always try....

We never asked about appetizers either. Our ceremony was at 4 so after we did photos then hopped over to the Brazilian restaurant and ate dinner around 6. I forget what time the restaurant along the beach opens because in that case they may be able to cater something for you free of charge. The bar is open for sure I know by the beach. I think they serve lunch until 4 so your guests could go grab a snack if they wanted to for sure!

So they wouldn't sub it out, and never gave you the pictures anyway? How rude!
Well... we told them it was a friend and she was a guest of the hotel anyway.

Yeah that's what I thought but I didn't want to fight with them about it because I really didn't want him in the first place.

Hi Ava,

Have you tried e-mailing the WC to ask her? She is pretty acommodating and may be able to help.

Mel, did you go to the disco and if so, how was it?

No we didn't get to go to the disco that night because it was closed sad.gif But we had fun in the bar beside the pool. We rented the space out for the evening with music and a bartender. It was my favorite part of the evening... we danced and drank. Lost of fun!

Yeah, that's what we are doing next door at the Vallarta. We are actually cutting our cake there too. FI only wanted to rent the bar for 2 hours (from 8pm-10pm) and I said no 3 hours. (till 11:00pm)

His arguement was that people could go to the disco if they wanted to continue dancing. I think I won the arguement because he said the other day that 3 hours was fine. I was just wondering if after we were done drinking and dancing at the pool bar if the disco was a fun option. I guess I have no control on that one. We'll just have to check it out and see!

Thanks for the review! We are getting married at the Riu Vallarta in April '09. So you had dinner 6-8pm and then rented the bar after that? I didn't even realize that you can rent out the bar area. How much did it cost? Is that something you put together when you get there or do you reserve it beforehand. Thanks so much for all of your help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
