Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Lenchika-

I'm not really stressing. I've caught myself a couple of times starting to wig out, but I step back and breathe and try to remember how much fun this is going to be.... It would be a heck of a lot more stressful planning a local wedding. I'm taking it one piece at a time and trying put my obsessive tendencies to good use.

If you haven't already reserved your wedding date and time, I would (personally) do that first. That will give you more flexibility if the first date and time you want are unavailable. You can submit your request via the MP website and a sales coordinator will send you an email with a contract. After the wedding date is confirmed, then I would move forward with room reservations.

From what I understand, the "Block" is only beneficial if you book 10 or more rooms.

We are going with tropical sounding contemporary music for the ceremony, so we will bring a burned cd. I can't convince the FI to put out the money for a videographer. We will likely bring along our camcorder and have someone in the audience videotape it. The FI has been playing with the software that came with his camera, so he can edit and add music to the footage. If it doesn't turn out, I won't lose any sleep over it. Pictures are more my worry....

I was also thinking about umbrellas .. they looked really pretty as well.
Hi Tyingthe.knot! Welcome!
The umbrellas sound so pretty!

How are all you ladies doing? I have been MIA for a while.
I still want to try and post pics of our suite on the Grand side.
Hope everyone is doing well and your planning is going great!

Does anyone happen to know of any reviews where the couple has booked the resort DJ? We're looking into booking the full service DJ package ($1,150) but I was just wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with using them.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

On an another note, I've just booked Tammara of Tamm's Photography for our wedding!

Cheers,

Per the MP's website, outside vendors will not be permitted, however I've read about exceptions and loops holes including having the photographer be a 'guest' of yours.

Did anyone have any trouble bringing their photog on grounds? Any tricks that worked in the event they give us a hard time about our 'guest' toting around camera equipment?

The more I think about it, the more the idea of having the resort's photographer take pictures for only 45 minutes bothers me.

Welcome Laura! My WP had emailed me the following price list for the DJ earlier this year:
Package 1 - Full 4 hours DJ, Sounds & Lights ($1150 tax included)
Package 2 - Full 2 hours DJ, Sounds & Lights ($750 tax included)
Package 3 - Full 4 hours Self CD or Ipod Music System ($350 tax included)
Package 4 - Full 2 hours Self CD or Ipod Music System ($200 tax included)

It doesn't look like the lights are included with the DIY sound systems.

We're planning to go with package 1 and perhaps arrange for the DJ to stick around longer in case the guest don't want to stop dancing (which will likely be the case).

I am super excited about Tammara. Are you arranging a 2 nights stay for her? If so, how are you planning on booking? We were thinking of just booking through expedia.

Hello

Thank you for the dj info - I think we are going to go with Package 4 - as we are doing our own music. I have read that you can book the lighting seperately. When I request the sound system I will enquire about the lighting.

I am going to check with my WC as I am hoping to being booking stuff now, as I am at the 3 month point soon.

Are you having a private function? We are and are planning either the chapel garden or one of the new terraces.

We are very excited about working with Tamms - we are book them 2 nights, the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding. We are having the 'honeymoon/ttd' shots done the next day. What a great package, far better then the hotel add ons.

I may book them through CAA (our current travel provider-they have already booked the entire wedding group) Or if I can get a better price through another provider I will. Have you received any quotes yet? What are your plans?

Great to chat

Hey Laura,

My plans are to host an indoor private function in the Ballroom Carey. I believe that there is a 10:00pm time restriction with all of the outdoor venues so the ballroom gives us an opportunity to party and dance the night away!

We're doing the same thing with Tamm's in that we're booking her a night's stay the day before and the evening of the wedding and doing the TTD/honeymoon shoot the day after. I'm planning on booking her accomodations through expedia as it comes out to $365/night, which is cheaper than what the resort charges at $380/night.

I hadn't realized that you were a fellow Canuck. I'm in Calgary!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
