I just got tears in my eyes!

I love Grandma! Was a big reason why I picked my resort for the wedding... direct flight, not a lot of walking or stairs. She has since then taken a fall and cracked her pelvis! She wasn't taking it easy (I called her one day and she had made 4 pies!) and there for not healing properly so we moved her into assisted living about a month ago! She is in heaven!!! The place is brand new, she picked out some new furniture, and best of all she has daily companionship with other gals while still having some privacy in her little apartment. My mom and I went and picked out a lift chair for her and decorated her bathroom with beachy "shell" decor and she was so excited!

SO cute.

I am so bummed that she cannot come to the wedding because she loves to have sand between her toes! But so thankful to have her in my life and that I can call her up to gossip anytime.

I am going to see her in two weeks, but until then I am working on putting pictures on a digital picture frame for her. I am plannning on sending her USBs with new pictures everyonce in awhile... maybe the other grandkids can too!

Here is my sister, Grandma and me on vacation in Scottsdale last fall!

Thanks Morgan!
ohh, i love this idea.

i ordered some pictures from my brother's wedding last night to send grandma. she doesn't have internet to see my pictures so I try to mail some occasionally.

my grandma also had to miss the wedding. i planned a coba trip with her in mind because she wanted to see the jungle & they have bike taxis there. she had back surgery 6 months before the wedding & was not feeling up to it.

I made her this little book & mailed it before the wedding. I'm working on a photobook of wedding pics for her now. I also added a videographer once she canceled her trip so she could see the wedding.

I also sent her a photobook of our e-pics. she took it with her everywhere she went.

my brother was married in august & grandma was able to make it to that wedding. I was a BM & wore some new shoes that were killing my feet. I wasn't in the mood to dance, but had to atleast dance one song. my grandma watched us the whole time smiling. she said it made her so happy to see us dancing in our marriage. after that I had to tough it out & dance a few more times.

here is grandma & mom at my brother's rehersal dinner

I think we're having email tutorials for the next few days to make sure she can get back to them again:)
I bet it was HUGE to her! Computers are confusing to me sometimes (well all of the time)

Awesome idea! The only grandmother I had growing up was my maternal grandmother. My Dad's mother died long before I was born. I was very close to Grandma and loved her very much. She was all of 5 foot tall and was a firecracker. She spent her last few years in a nursing home and suffered from dementia amongst other problems. It was incredibly sad to see the Grandma I knew slip away in those years. Most times she didn't know who I was when I came to visit her. She passed away 9 years ago and I miss her very much. I get teary thinking about her. I wish she could have met Jay. She would have loved him and flirted with him every chance she got. A few months after dating Jay, I met his Grandma and loved her right away. She also insisted right away that I call her Grandma and not Mrs. Blahblahblah (not her real last name). It's so nice to have a Grandma again. She has those great "grandma arms" that were made for hugging. Anyhow, she loves to hear about things I cook for Jay and loves that I'min a cooking club. She cans fruits and makes jellies and jams. Tonight I'm canning peaches (for the first time..i'm scared...lol) and will bring her some tomorrow. I know she'll love it.

New assignment:

Do something randomly nice for your dad.

At my brother's wedding, my dad's knees were really hurting him. It was so bad he asked us to see if we could find him a wheel chair to get him out to the car. Luckily, the hotel lobby had one. Otherwise he wanted us to cart him out of the reception on a luggage cart.

The next day I realized he wasn't wearing supportive shoes. So I bought him some insoles for easing knee pain. I hope they help. I'm mailing them off tomorrow.

My grandma enjoyed the card & pictures I sent last week. hug2.gif

Oh my...I am totally crying right now Morgan! What a great thread, I am just now finding it.

I don't live close enough to my grandma to be able to do a drive by anymore, and that sucks. It seems like every time I go home she's out of town, so I haven't seen her in a year! I am going home this weekend and I am going to try my very best to go see her. She is in the early stages of dimentia, so it's pretty hard sometimes...one day she'll be clear as a bell & the next she's calling me Carol (my mom's name).

And, unfortunately, I don't have a daddy sad.gif But, I do have a friends dad who was/is very close to a daddy figure. I'm going to give him a hug & buy him a beer this weekend!

I'm 24 hours away from my grandma, so I mailed her a card with pictures. she really enjoyed it. my mom stopped by her house yesterday to see the pictures I sent.

my gma on my dad's side had dementia. she also had good days & bad days. i used to call her every sunday. but, it got too hard for her to talk on the phone. she was much better in person, but i lived 4 hours away. so I started sending her postcards from everywhere I went. she hung them on the fridge & it made it much easier for her to keep track of what I was up to. sometimes she would forget that I lived in north carolina. so I got some cards from all around here & it helped her keep that straight.

after she passed away, i still bought some cards on our next trip. so i started to send them to my other grandma. i'm surprised I wasn't sending them both cards all along. but, my mom's mom was so vibrant & healthy that I was focusing all the attention on my dad's mom.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
