Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi Elizabeth,

I think your email sounds perfect!! I am actually getting a little concerned now too, about how the gazebo can only fit 50 people, because we are getting a lot more 'yes's' than originally expected!!

I would hate to change the resort on everyone, especially since Dreams Puerto Aventuras pricing is so much less than other resorts of their class (I am assuming because they are new), but if the cannot accommodate in so many important areas, I will have no other choice.

Well, keep us posted, and thanks so much for sending out your email!!

Hi all. Rather than trying to quote everyone's previous posts I will just give you my update which relates to the last couple posts. I received a contradictory email, just like the one Bianca received and thought the same thing "non-mexican and non-local" are the same thing so none of this makes sense. I responded with an email much like Elizabeth's saying that I would be rethinking my resort due to this policy and all I got was a "sorry for the inconvenience" and she reiterated the previous contradiction. The name of the photographer used at the resort when it was Sunscape was Missael Moreno but Jacy said this may be changing when they reopen as Dreams. Meanwhile, I notified my photographer of the possible issue and they have now declined to shoot my wedding because they had a recent problem at another Dreams resort and do not want anymore issues, however, they did mention that there is no "national union of photographers" in Mexico. So...not really sure what is going on at DPA but I just know I am not happy about it.

Reluctant- did the photographer say what the issue was at the other Dreams resort. That honestly makes me feel a little better if all Dreams will go to this policy and its not this one resort in particular.

Trust me I am right there with you on not wanting to change resorts, hopefully it all works out. When does Natalia come back?!?!

My niece is trying to reach Jacy, but hasn't heard back after 2 emails. Has anyone had a problem getting a response? She wants to know if she can get pictures of the centerpieces that their florist does. Can they be customized? Also, is there a wedding checklist that PA provided so she can see what times different things need to be completed by with regard to the resort. She's set her date and time for June 12th at 5 p.m.

When does she decide on menu, # of guests attending, location of ceremony and reception.

Is there any way to get pictures of the beach besides what's on their web site? She's leaning towards the gazebo, but just wants options.

Reluctant Beach Bride got one faster than I didHas anyone had a problem getting a response? Long or wordy emails tend to get the back seat. Try a short email with questions listed, thats what I do and Natalia is good with those. I miss her!She wants to know if she can get pictures of the centerpieces that their florist does. I have some photos I can upload later, I think its mostly bouquets tho...Can they be customized? Also, is there a wedding checklist that PA provided so she can see what times different things need to be completed by with regard to the resort. Did you get the excel spreadsheet? Its like a questionnaire...She's set her date and time for June 12th at 5 p.m.

When does she decide on menu, # of guests attending, location of ceremony and reception. I was told that I cannot pick my reception location til the resort opens. I told them I wanted the ceremony at the gazebo. They only have 1 wedding at a time, so it probably wont be an issue.

Is there any way to get pictures of the beach besides what's on their web site? I posted all the photos I have on the first page... Sorry! She's leaning towards the gazebo, but just wants options. It would be extra for set up on the beach I think

I have gotten same day replies from Jacy for the most part, except for when I sent my angry email, she took a little longer with that one rant.gif

While I know you ladies really want details, I would prefer not to put the situation and/or the name of the photographer on a public thread. If you want to know more, PM me.

I feel like right now, with the resort not being open yet, the WC's are a little unresponsive, a little unorganized and seem to want to put things off till the resort opens. I had initially decided, along with my TA, to wait till it reopens to get into any hardcore planning details, but I am a little nervous now to wait with the fact that they can't get policies straight.

I think the WC are extremely responsive. I was waiting at least 2 weeks to get replies from the Dreams Tulum WC when I was planning on having the wedding there. I think waiting a couple days is pretty good. I'm sure they don't just sit there at the empty resort all day. Natalia has a DT email she responded me from, so I am assuming they are keeping them busy while DPA is closed.

I don't really see much planning that has to be done with the WC beforehand... Most of it can wait. You can pick a location for the reception and ceremony, maybe a menu, look at some flowers. They really do basically everything while you are there. You get an appointment with a WC before the wedding to set everything straight. Maybe I'm just to laid back... I just don't really have anything too plan with the WC. I am doing things myself like invites, etc...

When I say unresponsive I don't mean the length of time it takes to reply, as noted I haven't had much problem in that area, I just mean with vague answers, skipping over questions to the point they have to be repeated up to 4 times, and the obvious lack of communication. I will admit that my stress level is EXTREMELY high right now for reasons that have nothing to do with my wedding (other than effecting my budget) but I am in general not a laid back person and planning and organizing is one of my favorite things to do ( I know, I'm a loser smile116.gif) but...its true. As my name suggests I was "reluctant" to do a DW in the first place, it was my FI's idea, so letting go is still tough. My invites are done, people are booking, and those that aren't are still wasting energy trying to talk us out of a DW, so I guess I just want to throw myself into planning to take my mind off all the crap going on. Make sense?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
