I also asked Chandlyn if we could come earlier than 6:30 to the Mammee Bay restaurant and she said that it was not possible, I guess because they are busy setting up. I was hoping that we could do speeches either while we are waiting for our dinner or just after we finish dinner??

Hi Chrissy! Welcome to the forum!! There is so much info on here about the seagrape, poolside and disco. Just search through the Jamaica forum and you will find it! Also try the search function at the top of the page.

Hi Girls,

My wedding is at ROR in Feb/09 and I know nothing about the reception options (my travel agent is useless-long story) but I hear there are basically 3 options-disco, beach-side (Seagrape?) and pool-side? Can someone give me all the details/their opinions on these locations? What do they cost? Does anyone have any pics? ANY info would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Angie

Thats weird; I emailed Chandlyn at least a good month ago about booking Seagrape for an after dinner reception (our wedding is January 16 also!) and she told me everything but the disco was booked. I ended up going with the disco, but I had really wanted Seagrape, or the poolside. Did you end up booking Seagrape? Thank god we don't have too many things to worry about, like a typical wedding, because the inconsistency in information is driving me nuts!

Hi! I've booked Mammee Bay for our dinner and Seagrape for our reception (although I hadn't thought of poolside for a reception. I think that would be nice). I was kind of digging the idea of dancing in the sand, having a bonfire and some tiki torches maybe.

I've heard some say that the disco is a little cheesy, and we can all head there anyways after the beach if the party continues late into the night!

I also think January is very popular. Back in March I had emailed Chandlyn and asked her about reserving the Plantation. She told me that I had to wait 2 months before my wedding date to do so. Recently I saw on the forum that some girls had already booked there receptions so I emailed her again and asked her about the Plantation. She told me it had already been reserved! I was pissed at first...but I booked the Seagrape and now I'm glad...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
