I do have a question. I believe it was at dreams the WC was happy to decorate with items your brought with you, like the chair bows. Is that true for secrets too?
I just heard back from Cecilia (the WC) about this...and posted some info...
Basically, she said YES, they WILL decorate with items you bring!
Whoo-hoo!

Hi Simistar and all other SMB ladies,

I'm writing to see what kind of package you booked with SMB in order to receive the on-beach bonfire option for (free). We have the Silver package, and so have the private cocktail reception and private dinner reception included, but I ws under the presumption too that we would need to pay more for a private beach or poolside "rehearsal dinner" type of event. That would be truly awesome to do for our guests on the Friday night before our Saturday wedding!

The TripAdvisor forums are slowing down a bit, but people are posting more formal reviews of SMB and photos every day! Woo hoo!

Hey kisskissmd!

Yes -- you DO have to pay extra for a private event.
(Your reception and cocktail hour are included in the package you bought...)
BUT, if you want to do a private event on the Friday before your wedding, it's $25 US /pp.(The menus to choose from are posted on page two of this thread...the attahment is labelled "welcome dinner menus")

So, for us, we're having our welcome dinner on a Friday night too! And we've decided to do a bonfire at the beach...so, it' still $25 pp, UNLESS you want to add any extras...different seating, different dessert, music etc.
The $25/pp includes food, servers and seating for guests....

Hope this helps!

Thank you Simistar! Very helpful...I think I might just stick with the "let's all meet down at X restaurant" option for Friday night then...that is getting pretty expensive for my guest count of 50! Ugh, destination weddings do not save money after all...what a crazy time. But I am super happy to be having one, nonetheless!

Oh, yes -- if we were having 50 guests I don't think we'd do it either! (We only have about 20)...
You'll probably have to wait at one of the restaurants to be seated with that many people, but at least it's no extra cost!:-)
Actually, maybe if you give the restaurant a heads-up, they can accommodate you better...?

Good luck:-)

I just got back from Secrets MB last night...

I took pictures for you guys of the wedding location from multiple angles and then we have a ridiculous amount of pictures from our trip from around the resort.

Can anyone PM me how to post pictures to here?

Also if anyone wants me to email our private album of pictures I am happy to give you the link just PM me and I will give you the link to our online album.

Overall we had a great time.

The resort is not fully operational and there are glitches...I am sure these will be fixed by the time you all get married there.

We are also going to post a review on Trip Advisor so I will post that link once we write it...

Our favorite things...

-the staff is amazing

-the rooms are so cute

-food is great

I will post more information once we download all our pictures and write our review. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
