New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women

Has anyone read and/or done the program from this book? I'm a firm believer (I'm also a FIRM Believer, but that's something else entirely! LOL) in lifting heavy weights and have started doing this program...but I'm curious if anyone else has tried it and if so what their results have been. TIA!

Yes, it definitely wants us to lift heavier! The author goes to great length to explain why the whole light weight, lots of reps things doesn't work. Women simply don't have the ability to gain the massive muscles that men can, so we should be lifting more like men do....in a nutshell. It's been a very interesting read. The author is Lou Schuler if you want to check it out. I'm trying it out, we'll see how it goes!

My sister and I just started lifting heavy. FI is very active in weights, and he always told me that doing light weights was worthless. Our trainer actually has us doing more reps and more weight than we were doing before.

The combination of the heavier weights, cardio, eating healthy and getting a good amount of protein has really allowed me to see more tone in a decently short period of time. :)

I regularly do body pump class which is a class of medium to light weights done with tons of reps. I really like the class and I do see muscle definition. I even feel sore after class.

I have been curious lately as to weather changing my weight routine to heavy weights will create better results though.

I used to lift heavy with my trainer. I was squatting 200 pounds and my behind never looked better!

I never got big no matter how heavy I lifted. Most women do not have enough muscle mass to ever get very big. I would love to be able to lift heavier weights now, I would see much better results in less time but, unfortunately, I do not have anyone to spot me =0(.

Jennifer, too bad we can't workout together. I like to lift heavy, but don't have a workout partner. I try to convince FI to go with me, but wouldn't trust him to not let a dumbell fall on my head. He's a gym newbie. lol Ok, back to the thread... I used to be a personal trainer and definitely like to lift a little heavy. I used to see so many people in the gym pretty much wasting time. I see much more results in myself when I lift heavier and do fewer reps. And I LOVE how strong I feel after.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
