i found this on the web one day looking for the civil ceremony wording in mexico (it's not the complete article tho) ... thankfully a few changes have been made! haha! and FYI, the civil ceremony at dreams is NOTHING like this, so no worries!

Mexico updates language for civil wedding ceremonies.

COPYRIGHT 2006 Chicago Tribune

Byline: Hugh Dellios

MEXICO CITY _ Unlike many Mexican brides over the last 147 years, Veronica Mendez did not vow that she would not "exasperate" her new husband, nor promise to treat him "with the reverence due to the person who supports and defends us."

Nor was her husband, Gustavo Garcia, told to treat her "with the magnanimity and generous benevolence that the strong must have for the weak, essentially when this weak creature gives herself unto him."

Mexico's women scored a small victory in their long battle against machismo this spring when Congress told judges to stop reading those customary words during civil marriage ceremonies after a decadelong fight by activists who found them offensive, obsolete and a reinforcement of underlying sexist attitudes.

The so-called Epistle of Melchor Ocampo, written in 1859, once was the law but had been shelved by many judges as a nod to the changing times. Yet some judges still read it, perhaps thinking erroneously that it remained in the civil marriage code, and some women still request that it be read.

I stole those from Tammy. I stole the calender from Dawn. I think she found it somewhere online but I am not sure.
I am getting really excited except for the fact that I got my hair done yesterday and the underneath is ORANGE!!! HA HA HA they are supposed to fix it for me tomorrow. If they don't I will seriously freak the crap out on them. I haven't had a Bridezilla moment yet but there is a first time for everything!

Yeah, my sister works at the salon too so it sucks. I went in today and the owner is my sisters really good friend and she was pissed. The girl that did my hair has like a three month waiting list and is super hard to get in with. This is sooo out of the ordinary for her. I have an appt at noon tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed they can fix it. I thought my lil Groomzilla was going to go kill someone this morning ha ha ha I have my hands full with him!!

I've just been reading back through some of the past Dreams wedding reveiws ( Jilly's, Paula's, Brenda Star ect... ) and thay all say that they partied untill 11pm ! Does anyone know if they all had to pay the extra $10 + 10% + 15% for the additional open bar / waiter service per person ? I know this is a convirsation I have brought up before in a thread I started but I don't seem to have got very far with it. I know most of you are going to go with the flow and probably move on to one of the bars after your 3 hours of reception are up but I was just wondering how the others that have already got married there got round this music / time issue ?? Did they pay the extra or did they just end up staying with no extra cost ? Any thoughts ?.....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
