Any input on the Casa Dorada?

Recommended Posts

One of the hotels that I'm seriously considering for my wedding the Casa Dorada. The hotel is beautiful and the staff seems really nice and helpful. The only downside is that it is a fairly new resort with seemingly no wedding experience. (Despite the fact that its website says it has a wedding coordinator, I learned that it did not when I spoke with the folks there.) Does anyone have any input on this hotel -- good, bad, or otherwise?

Thanks so much!

Hello,

I am getting married at Casa Dorada in March 2009. I think I was their first wedding contract. I really had to work with them to get the contract put together however they were more than accommodating and I am very happy I to be getting married there. The wedding planner is a little more than what I wanted to spend but she has also been wonderful. I also looked at a number of different sites in Cabo and Casa Dorada to me was the best.

We own a timeshare there and the place is beautiful. We were also able to work out some great deals for our guest accommodations.

Please feel free to ask me any other questions that you have.

I think the Casa Dorada is the perfect place. My Fiance and I just returned over the weekend from Cabo to scout out locations. We absolutely love the view the ceremony locations and most of all the customer service that this hotel provides. We loved it so much we bought a 5 yr. time share so we can stay there as well. This Hotel is the sister to Me Cabo which is right next door. They are experts at weddings and I have complete faith after talking to staff and the banquet manager that they will do an excellent job and will do anything to accomodate our requests. Good luck!

Hi! I'm curious to know what kind of deal were you able to work out for your guests? It would be great if we can all stay in one central locations, however I know this is a very expensive hotel for some of our guests. We just bought a 5 yr. timeshare so we are very excited to have our wedding reception here.

Hello,

Since you are a timeshare owner you can contact GBS and reserve a block of rooms for your guest. They have some great deals right now since they are still trying to sell out the timeshares. If your guest don't mind sitting through the mandatory breakfast they can get a deal for around $900 for a week. Also, you should negotiate a nightly room rate for your guest in your wedding contract with Casa Dorada as well.

Hey Girls,

I'm planning on getting married at CD. We own a timeshare there as well. Although we have seen it complete, we did not stay there the last time we went to Cabo. It's a beautiful resort, and still not too big. It has a quaint feeling to me, still. I just received some info from the "wedding coordinator" and I'm not quite sure if it includes everything I want it to. I'm considering hiring a coordinator that has more experience in the area and that I'm a bit more confident in.

I think this is a great way to share info and we can all help each other and hopefully save some time along the way. Thank you for all the input!

Hi!,

well, I happen to have shot a wedding there back in July. It's a nice place and you'll get a front seat vista to the bay (though you can't see the arch view from that angle). The place is brand new, so all is nicely finished and trimmed. It's a good place for not-so-big weddings. The only suggestion I would make is to do the ceremony an hour before so you may have a part of the sunset, otherwise you'll get a "shadowy" ceremony, the sun sets early over the 5-story-building. Now in november, the wedding should take place (it's my humble suggestion) at 4pm, cause sun sets in Cabo at 5:30.

One other thing is that although the view is really nice and all, there would really be no "intimate" shots at the beach cause the beach front is very narrow and packed with people. So, for beach pics you'll need to do that at a different beach.

That's all, just thought of helping some smile72.gif

Hi ladies,

I am now getting married at the Casa Dorada too, and went through extensive negotiations with the hotel. The hotel is new, so we are all kind of inventing the wheel with them. It was a slow process, but I found my contacts there to be very nice and accommodating. I haven't been on this board much as of late, so if anyone has any specific Qs, please PM me and I'm happy to share any info I have.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
