The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

I just added hair/make-up etc info to the "unofficial guide". I hadn't realized I had forgot that. The attachments were always there but now there is a brief summary of the services with some comments based on what I have put in my reivew and what I read in the review of many other brides (may not be 100% accurate as I'm going by memory of what I read but my memory is pretty good. Also I always put my comments with "*" so you know the difference between the official resort info and 3rd party info)

My aunt is a photographer and wants us to find out the answeres to these questions. Can any of you super brides help??

What is the size of the pictures (we get 50 in an album) in the album?

Are the pictures edited/re-touched?

Are the full size pictures on the CD?

If we purchase additional photos are they loose or in an album and can we choose the size of the pictures?

How are the pictures for the album or any extra chosen?

THANK YOU!!!

Hey ladies, so I finally got a reply from lizete...

I wanted to know which outdoor private locations we can have our reception at without having to pay the extra $750 fee, where we can play music and dance to it? It can be by the beach having the ultimate package or dreams of love package.

Can we have our cocktail at the Lobby terrace? Yes you can have there your cocktail.

Is it possible to have a reception at the Lobby terrace with music? Yes it is possible.

Who will perform the symbolic ceremony? Certified minister.

Can we write up the whole ceremony script and give you a copy so whoever performs the ceremony will say exactly what is written? Of course we will ask this to the minister if you want to.

So as you can see she didn't really list any other places for outdoor reception with music.... but like many have said before they are not that good at giving detailed answers, so maybe in a lil while I will e-mail her again and will specifically ask about having reception by the pool with music.

I thought that the symbolic ceremony was performed by the wedding coordinator unless you wanted a religious ceremony in which case they get a priest or religious minister, but I guess not. Maybe this explains why somebody said in their review they wanted a non religious ceremony but that there were still several mentions of God.

Resort photographer

On another note, I have been emailing the photographer to get info for you ladies about the cost of extra hours and the cost of a trash the dress session.

I'm pretty annoyed with him as I have emailed him 4 times and have not been getting complete responses.

He has not answered the question about how much it costs for extra hours. He said 2 hours is normally included with the ultimate wedding package. I asked how much extra to have 5 hours (one hour before, two hours for ceremony and group/couple pictures, 2 hours for reception) and he basically just brushed off the question. He made it sound like they don't charge by the hour, so there is no extra charge, yet he said you get 2 hours maximum. So I really don't know what to tell you ladies. I asked him to clarify twice, and I thought my question was really clear but I got a really vague answer. I guess they aren't used to getting this request.

In terms of trash the dress, they are going to charge you the same packages as the wedding photographer packages! I think that's crazy because it's super expensive. I told him it would be a one hour session and on a day after the wedding, but he said the price is the same! So it would be

30 pictures and digital cd $440.00

50 pictures and digital cd $650.00

80 pictures and digital cd $890.00

I think that's crazy expensive. Maybe you can try to negotiate with him in person, especially if you are already using him for your wedding photography. The other option would be to skip out on the CD and just buy prints individually. It would be a way to save money but you would end up with less pictures and no CD which sucks.

Anyways, I had hoped to get better info from him. What a frustrating experience!

Oh...good to know about the Walmart in Playa! I need to pick up water and snacks for my guest's out of town bags when I get there so I don't have to haul it down.

We were going to take the shuttle to the resort but I'm wondering if we might want to rent a car so we can stop and get stuff at Walmart on the way. Did anyone else rent a car when they were down there?

I was going to put water in my OOT bags too but the hotel actually has a minifridge in each room stocked with beer and water and juice and stuff. So, I decided not to include that, only cookies and snacks and stuff.

Car rental

I found these two car rental companies on another thread and the ladies were saying they were great. Cancun Rent a Car, Cancun Airport Rent A Car, Rent a Car In Cancun and

Cancun Car Rental, Rent a car in Cancun, Playa del Carmen Easy Way Car Rental

I have not used them but when I compared them to the American chains (Hertz, Dollar...) they were a lot more reasonable both with prices and insurance costs which is where they usually get you.

Good Luck!!

When I was there for my site visit, I saw a reception of about 30 + at the adult pool. They set up a long, rectangular table and had a DJ to the side. It actually looked really nice. So, if that's where you want it, tell them. They should be able to comply.

Good to hear! That is where I am potentially thinking of having our dinner...so you recommend the spot? I was concerned about how much privacy you would have there, especially because it looks like there is a hot tub right next to the spot where they set-up the table.

Also, I wanted to have some candles on the table...maybe little tea lights. Do you think that they would even stay on or would wind be an issue?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
