Picking out my BM hair - big fat bun

rodent

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be fun to have a big fat bun for my BM hair in a couple of weeks. I'm in my brother's wedding. I've wanted to try this hairstyle since charlotte's first wedding on SATC. It's how carry had her hair for the wedding & I really liked it.

I'm not sure if my hair is long enough. It's passed my shoulders, but not much.

I have a doughnut for extra padding, but it doesn't make a big fat bun. How do you get one so huge? I can't find any larger doughnuts. Someone said they used socks. I'm going to a hairdresser, but if I need to buy something in advance I want to make sure I have it.

Also, I've seen some stuff online where they cover a foundation with fake hair so it's easier to make the bun. should I get some fake hair?

here are some inspiration pics. Do you think it will be cute? Or should I consider other BM hair?

this is the dress. It's bill levkoff #184. I LOVE it!!!

That hairstyle is so cute. I saw it in nenamono (Michelle's) pics and review for paradisus riviera. She said she had to tell the girls in Mexico how to do it and it looks awesome in her pics. Maybe it was a doughnut? I never saw anything about socks though- With my luck I would be walking down the aisle and the sock would unfold or something on my head. ...

anyway search her post. Hope it helps!

i LOVE to wear my hair like that. i used to have one of the things to do it, but it got lost somewhere. someone recently cut the middle out of a body-wash sponge (i'm having a brain fart - loofah?)

mine was brown, so if a little hair poked thru, you couldn't tell. but if you got a bright green or white loofah(?) you might need some fake hair. you just put your hair in a ponytail, pull the pony thru the middle of the thingybobber and pin it around the thing.

that probably wasn't much help.

that was just what I needed to know. I didn't think about a loofa. I'll look for a brown one & if I can't find one I'll cover it with fake hair.

thanks! That would be plenty big. the little thing I have now works that way, but it just makes a tiny bun. I want a big fat one :)

I was just thinking that I just saw this on someone here. My memory sucks lately so glad you remembered! I think she brought some sort of tool with her for the stylist to use to create it. I love it tho! Gorgeous.

From Michelle's Paradisus Review: I wanted my hair precisely a certain way and to get it done we had to create an invention. We basically bought a sponge that you use in the shower and cut a hole in the middle to create the height and shape I wanted. Let me tell you the salon loved us and had a great time laughing at our creation but kept saying they were going to the store to get one also so they could do it at home.

There is a pic of her hair here too... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t26118

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
