Help with Groom and GM suits

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone.

I'm a little stressed...I found my dress (which I'm thrilled about) so now, we've turned all our attention on finding the guys attire. A little insight into our situation is...we will be getting married in Mexico next May. FI and I live in Montreal, and our three groomsmen live...all over Western Canada. We have visited easily over a dozen stores here in Montreal with no luck finding THE suit! We've also looked online, and I found a few that we really like...but should we order them?

Has anyone ordered suits for their guys at a distance, without having them try the suits on beforehand? This is a gamble, and I'm either looking for someone to convince me we have the balls to just do it...or...give me some advice on what I should be doing to organize a suit for all my guys...

GAH! ANY tips would be appreciated!

what are the return policies for the places that you're looking at? if they have a lenient policy, i'd say order them...or order fi's and see if he likes it first and take it from there.

dh was the only one wearing a suit, otherwise it would have been a problem here too. he told the gms to buy specific pants and shirts from banana republic. he wore the same shirt, but under a white linen suit.

guys always have an easier time.

i wonder if banana ships to canada?

Most of the online shops we've found that have nice suits (and "seem" legit) have a return policy that basically entails we pay the return shipping + insurance.

Has anyone from BDW ever ordered a "Ferrecci" suit...I wonder?!

Anyways...I guess we'll just keep searching. I'm going to check Banana Republic's site now...

Should I just have our guys go, get measured somewhere, report back with their sizes and order?

FI and I have decided to pay for the GM and my MH. This is going to be WAY harder than we thought! LOL...

oh well I guess.

Here is my dress (picture below)...can you help me by giving me suggestions as to what color I should be looking for for the suits?! Oh crap...I sound like a total rookie...but I AM!!! My dress is ivory with gold detailing...Should their suits be tan, taupe, white, ivory, off-white, brown, beige?! LOL...My head is spinning!

This is the suit we are thinking of...

OR

We are having an AHR one week after we return home (and it is proving to be a pretty fancy affair). We think having the guys in their suit pants, with light tops for Mexico, and with ties and jackets at the AHR.

ugh, your dress is so gorgeous i can't stand it! i LOVE the layers.

anyway, i like the 2nd suit (tan) w/ it. maybe your fi could wear ivory, if you wanted him to match you...but odds are w/ all of the jazz on your dress, the ivories (i just wrote ovaries twice) won't be the same.

if you're paying for the gm, tell them to get measured and send you the measurements. i'd also buy one suit (fi's) before buying the rest of them b/c it'll be more $$ to return 3+ suits than just returning 1.

Thank you Lauren! cheesy.gif You're awesome (and I LOVE my dress too - I feel so...romantic in it)!

I'm going to start a new "Help me choose thread" with four different suits and see what we come up with...

You BDW ladies are the EXPERTS on such matters...

If you ask most men what color suit to choose...they see NO difference!! LOL

Thank you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
