El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

WOW- that is new. I am glad to hear that EDR is trying to change some of their policies and offering more options when it comes to photographers. I always thought they should include some more local photogs as vendors. I agree with Mandy- out of those, I'd go with Claudia Rodriguez I think...

I'm with everyone else. That is awesome they are giving more than one choice for photographers. Here we paid the $500 because caribe was the only choice in may. I too would go with Claudia. I wasn't impressed with Caribe from other brides that used that photographer when I seen their photos. Check out their sites and see how the photos look. Possibly someone on here has used some of the others. Claudia was one of the biggest ones recommended when I was searching. Unfortunately she was booked when I finally decided to go outside. I think it is worth paying the money for your wedding day. I also felt the 3 hrs I had with photographer was plenty of time. That included 30 min. pre ceremony for myself, ceremony, photos of family, guest and bride and groom after. Then we even did about 30 min. at private reception set up and guest again. The photos friends took the rest of the night turned out beautiful too. Hopefully that helps you.

Ok, thanks, guys! I think I'll post a question for others in the forum and ask if they've heard/used the others.

We do want nice pics, but, we're also willing to sacrifice a little if it saves us some $$. So, I'm just wondering if the others are somewhat comparable in quality, then, I might just go with one of them. But, if I hear a lot of negative stuff...then, probably not.

Wow!!! Claudia is now one of EDR's approved photographers?! That's great! I used Claudia and Mike Cantarell for our photography and videography, but we had to pay the $500. The only one that we could use was Caribe. In the beginning of my planning process, Caribe just seemed to be getting started and the samples that I saw on-line were just ok. However, after I had booked Claudia, I saw that Caribe had really started to step it up. So, Caribe might not be bad at all. However, I'm totally biased since I used Claudia. Honestly, I'd pay the $500 fee and have Elizabeth Medina do it! We may have had a differing philosophy than you do, BUT I promise you that once you're 8 months out from your wedding, the pics will be worth it. I only wish she could have been there the entire 10 days we were at the resort to capture even more...

I was hesitant at first to spend the money, but we look at our pictures almost every week. We've spent hours showing them to friends and at our back home receptions!!! Everyone is amazed!

Take a look at some of her work and you'll have a hard time going anywhere else...

Nothing against Claudia or the other "approved" photogs, but we'll always be in love with Elizabeth and the memories she captured from our amazing EDR wedding!!!

Hi Brig:
i LOVE Elizabeth's work and am thinking of having her shoot our wedding next April. My question to you about hiring her is, do you wish you had had her for more or less of your day? I don't want to ask which package (how many hours you chose because then duh, i'd know how much you paid for her) but do you think getting only 6 hours coverage would make a bridge happy? I'd prefer 10 but i don't want to spend more on my photographer than i do on my whole wedding. i want to avoid having her for things i don't really care that much about (getting hair and make-up done) but i'd like her capture our first dance, father daughter dance, etc.

I have a question about hair and makeup. How long does it usually take and what time would you suggest I make the appointment for, my wedding is at 3:30 and pics start at 2:30? I will have 2 bridesmaids having their hair fixed and MOG hair and makeup.

I was just thinking about this too. My wedding is at 4:00pm and picts starting around 3:15. I was thinking about having the appt either at 12:30 or 1:00. I was thinking it would take about an hour and that leaves over an hour and a half to do other things like makeup. With some buffer. I hate running late and I am sure no everything is going to run in a timely manner so I am going to TRY to be patient and leave extra time. Any suggestions from the married?

Hair could take up to two hours depending on how long it is and what you want done with it. I have shoulder length hair and had an updo and that's how long it took. Granted, I had them wash it beforehand, so that put more time into it (and supposedly they don't like to do that b/c it won't "stick" was well). So, if you're not going to wash your hair, I'd allow an hour and a half so you're not rushing in case they're running late or something else comes up. For make-up, to be on the safe side, I'd schedule an hour for that, too. Again, this will probably be more time than necessary, but believe me, you don't want to be rushing around and stressed. Better to have to wait inbetween if you have too much time than not to have enough time.

Just a suggestion on beach candles. They only burn 2 hrs. I would bring some extra ones so you will have them for your entire reception. You can buy a bag of them of 100 for $5. I wish we would of done that for our reception.
