We would like SOME privacy for our big day!! Need your advice

Recommended Posts

After deciding to change resorts, my FI and I are finally meeting with our TA today, to discuss other options. I am crossing my fingers that we are able to pick a new resort!!

In the mean time I have been glued to the computer every night trying to get as much information as possible about the AI resorts around Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, and which ones meet our expectations for what we are looking for in a resort. I will be releived when we find our resort, this has been a very frustrating part of our planning!!

It is important to us that we have a private ceremony and reception. We also are hoping to find a place where they arent doing multiple weddings in one day.

This is exactly what we dont want!!!mad.gif

Don't get me wrong..that set up looks AMAZING...but look at all of the people lounging around tanning just a few feet away!!

SO I am looking for advice, as I'm sure there are other brides out there with the same expectations. Have any of you found a location that offers more privacy??

Thanks ahead of time, you ladies are amazing!!

Hi, I have travelled many times to both Playa del Carmen and Cancun and I can tell you from what I have seen, the Riu resort setups typically are like that. I have some photos of us at the beach, taking pictures of other people gawking at someone getting married. I am not sure about the multiple weddings in a day there, but I did see at least one per day and it did not look private.

Not sure if this is common but I have had about 4 stays at 4 different Riu resorts.

I believe that in Mexico the beaches are public and therefore they cannot prevent people from lounging right by your ceremony.

They may have other areas on the resort though for a more private type ceremony.

That's all I can offer! Good luck with deciding.

Take a good look at the Paradisus. I'm obviously biased because I'm getting married there in just over two weeks.

However, the beach wedding site is around a bend from where the chairs are set up, and they only do one wedding per day. The WC is outstanding. It is a bit pricier than some of the other options in the area.

You'll never get total privacy - all the beaches in Mexico are public, so people may walk by. But at least they won't be lathering on the Ban de Soleil while you're exchanging vows.

keep in mind that some of the weddings are set up early in the day, and if you have an evening/sunset ceremony, most sunbathers are done on the beach for the day. we had a few people sitting nearby, but they weren't even paying attention to us.

i was at a beach wedding in nj this past weekend and even tho it was a private beach, there were people walking past.

We had our ceremony in the gazebo, so it seemed more private, rather than being right out there one the beach. Although my friends did notice a few people from the beach watching, I was too caught up in the moment to notice any onlookers. Maybe if we were right on the beach, I would have noticed more, since we would have been right out there, but the gazebo gave us some sense of privacy. The hotel had security on the beach in front of our gazebo, to make sure no came too close or sunbathe right in front. I thought this was a nice touch. Plus our wedding was at 5pm, so there were less people sunbathing anyways.

I was also going to recommend you take a lok at Paradisus. The one wedding a day is great and it seems to be about as private as you can get. The wedding area is not right in the middle of things like Becks said. There are pictures of a wedding here Photos of Paradisus Riviera Cancun, Puerto Morelos - Resort (All-Inclusive) Images - TripAdvisor and the resort site is Paradisus Riviera Cancun | All Inclusive Cancun Vacation Packages Those pictures are on tripadvisor if the link doesn't work.

Thank you so much for this suggestions..I really haven't look all that much into The Paradisus so I will def. bring that one up to our TA today. The one wedding a day policy is very attractive. I can't wait to see your wedding pictures!! Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
