Destination wedding under $7,500?

Recommended Posts

My $7,500 budget does not include my travel expenses. That is just for the wedding itself so I guess I'll be in good shape. Now if I can only decide where I want to have it!

Thanks everyone for your replies, it is much appreciated.

I honestly think you can go wherever you want. Parents are paying for our travel. We're spending $5500 in Akumal w/ a beach wedding and our reception is in a huge palapa on the beach. We're getting a 4 course meal from one of the best restaurants in RM for 50 people. We a dj, cake, chair rental, flowers and photography (that includes ttd the next day) and extras all included

Jacilynda - What restaurant and site is your wedding going to be at? I am getting married in Akumal in June 2009 and am looking into having the Turtle Bay Cafe cater and coordinate, and having the reception at the Centro Ecological Akumal. Still waiting for a quote, but I think it will be well within that same budget.

Hey ladies!

We're holding our ceremony out in front of the Cannon House. There is no fee for using this site since we are having our reception w/ the hotel Akumal Caribe. Here is a picture of the ceremony site...blurry but you get the idea.

Then our reception is being held in the North Palapa, or Lol-Ha snack bar. The Lol-Ha Restaurant is catering for us. Everyone has been sent a menu and get to choose what entree they want. Everyone gets ceviche and spinach artichoke dip to start. Then their choice of lime soup, house salad, or caesar salad. Then their choice of Mango chicken, Pork poc Chuk, Tampiquena beef, or grilled pork chops. Then cake for dessert. Our quote included food for 45 people, white linen tablecloths (I'm doing runners and napkins), sound system, and dj equipment (BIL is going to be dj), and the quote was just under $2000, and ceremony sight was free! I just have to pay for chairs and decor. Here's a picture of the Palapa where the reception is:

Here's a side of the inside of the Palapa... we'll have the tables around the outside to dance in the middle.

This is the bar in the Palapa:

The Turtle Bay Cafe is doing our cake. Here is a picture of it... its $300

A wedding can be done on a small budget, I PROMISE!!!

Wow Jacilynda that sounds and looks awesome. I think I'll look into that. I'd love to hear more. Where are you staying? Did you use a WC? What is the closest airport? Any more info would be great. Thanks so much. The pics are great. Did you take them yourself?

We are staying at the Cannon House so for the ceremony when its my time I can just walk out. I was going to use a wc but i have such a small budget I would have had to pay her $110 so I having been researching and ooking everything on my own and my mother and FMIL will be setting everything up. Cancun is the closest airport. Laura, the owner of the hotel took the pictures. I will do a sort of planning thread later this afternoon and put a bunch of info in it.

What kind of photography are you all having at your weddings? Is it something that comes in a package or are you hiring an outside vendor and using one of their packages. The only reason I ask is because most photographers cost like $2000 for a mid-range package, and a lot of DJ's cost between 800 and 1000 bucks.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
