ROR 5-29 Pictures and review (better late than never, right)

Recommended Posts

Ok, so Iâ€m bad and never did a review after or posted pictures when I got back home from my wedding on May 29th. (sorry girls) Iâ€m still not going to really do a review there are TONS of ROR brides on here now and I think this site and its archives is just a blessing to any bride getting married there. So Iâ€m sure the things that would be in my review has been said over and over. So Iâ€ll just give a little general rating and a line or two.

For those of you who want to skip straight to the pictures here is a link and Iâ€ll put some into the page below.

Riu Resort ~ A

Itâ€s picture perfect, from the beach to the rooms. U really cant go wrong if what really matters is pretty pictures.

Rooms ~ B-

I had a Junior Suit and upon arrival had to make 3 trips back down to the deck because of problems with the card key. And let me tell u after traveling for 12 hours u really donâ€t want to walk back and forth. My hubby was very agitated and so that means I had to take care of all of it or he would have not been nice to the staff. When we finally got into the room it had double beds……NO WAY (when I especially asked w/my travel agent for a king bed & it was on my paper work). I had to go back down to the deck and they said they didnâ€t have any rooms, try the next day. That totally sucked, but I reminded my self we are in Jamaica everything is no problem so I decided to relax and let it go (for the moment). Other than the double beds the room was nice. I didnâ€t get moved to a new room until 2 days later (the day before the wedding, probably because of Chandlyn). That room was much better. One huge bed and a nice big balcony. So I was happy (not happy that I had to move all my stuff & wait 2 days) but happy that I got what I paid & asked for.

Now Iâ€ll change the rating to a A-

FYI ! I make sure you kip and close all your bags. The rooms had very little bugs that tended to get into all zipped places that were not closed. Itâ€s no big deal b/c u never see them, but they are there.

Food ~ A

I liked the food, Iâ€m not a very experimental eater. I loved breakfast ! Tons of good stuff and the omelets are wonderful. The coffee is delightful. Other than that I really stayed with your typical American food, lots of French fries and the like….hey I wasnâ€t really trying to eat something new and then have my stomach doing funny things the rest of my stay. My friends and family liked the food. And my cousin who is a vegetarian (who now eats seafood) said it there were some very good stuff. I really didnâ€t do any of the specialty restaurants. I liked the buffets. Oh and I had TONS of desert!!! The Cheesecake is great !

Chandlyn ~ A+

Very hard working lady. I say if your wedding is more or less pretty basic, donâ€t worry to much about sending her all the little details. Reserve your locations and then do the rest when u see her.

Wedding A+

So, I have to give my wedding a A+ because its my wedding.

It did rain on my wedding day. I was suppose to get married at 12, huge rain storm came thru and continued for about 45 mins. It stopped, all my guests went back out to wait for me and it started pouring again. My honey and everyone got soaked. He was not a happy camper. He said he was standing at the alter with the minister and it started sprinkling again. The minister looks up and start telling everyone to run. Jon said the minister booked, jumping and dodging chairs. LOL. However since I was in my room with my girls (not getting wet) the story that was told to me sound quite funny and I think later on my honey will think so too. Nikki then asked If I wanted to get married inside at the restaurant (the name is slipping my mind right now, but itâ€s the one where the simi private receptions are). I said NO WAY we came all the way to Jamaica to get married on the beach not inside, Iâ€ll wait. We didnâ€t end up having the wedding till about 230. the ceremony was about 20 minutes long (which my hubby loved it being so short) and it started sprinkaling. There was another wedding right after mine who was also postponed so we had to move right away for the next girl. Hey no worries it was starting to rain anyway. Everyone kinda disbursed. I had planned a type of mixer for 1 hour before dinner at the dunns bar, but it started raining again, so I went ahead and cancelled that too. Simi private dinner was good, cake tasted great and was cute, our server was awesome!

Oh, and the bestman missed his plane and didnâ€t make it to the ceremony, but he made if in time for dinner (no worries)

Thatâ€s it. If I could do it over again I wouldnâ€t change a thing except the rain LOL and since I nor the RIU resort could no nothing about that I didnâ€t let it bother me. It was a very relaxed wedding and I would say 70 % less stressful than a traditional wedding. I just wish the say was longer and I had more energy (cause by 9 I was pooped).

Oh and for all my fellow African American brides. Your hair is going to swell!!!! Truly you can see the progression of my hair swelling thru out my wedding day….Its quite funny and Iâ€m glad I went into it with the mind set of knowing I wasnâ€t going to fuss over my hair since I didnâ€t want to where it up (totally not me) I knew it was going to get big (and it did!!!). If you want things perfect totally schedule an appointment with the salon and get an up do.

Photographer AAAA++++++++

Ok, well my photog is my cousin, so I may be a little bias (LOL). But she did a wonderful job. Especially since she doesnâ€t do wedding and sheâ€s more of a portrait photographer. By the way, she lives in California and is totally into doing Engagement, Boudoir, and TTD photos. Here is a link to her page.

Great review! Beautiful pics....beautiful bride!! Glad to hear that everything went well. The small bugs in the rooms worries me though. I totally do not do bugs especially indoors where it's supposed to be comfortable. Did they bite? Were they in the beds?

I totally freak out when it comes to bugs, but you never saw these untill u went into a pocket that was unzipped or I would see them coming out of a bag that I moved. But I had to be paying close attention. Now that I think of it it might have only been the bags in the closet. I didnt see any in the bed and the sheets and stuff were all white so I would have noticed. It's nothing to worry about and it wont make u uncomfortable. Just zip bags up so u dont bring anything home.

Yeah I did a TTD and I loved it. I was totally going to do it, but was a little nervous just because of how much the dress cost. But now I'm so glad I did. What r u going to do with the dress after the wedding? Watch it get old in your closet? U should get your moneys worth. Plus my dress is not trashed. All I need to do is get it cleaned (good as new). I would recomend to everyone who has the oportunity to do a TTD the pictures are totally worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
