My absolute favorite wine is Honig cabernet. It tastes like butta!!!

On the cheaper side I like the yellow tail merlot/cabernet blend. I think I drink wine that is on the more expensive side...Well I used to. I had to give up wine for BL3.

I would love to hear mor ideas on affordable wines, although that could get me in trouble :P

My absolute favorite white wine on the planet is Mer Soleil - it is a Chardonnay from CA - it is SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

Mer Soleil Chardonnay 2004

winemaker's notes:

Initial aromas of the ripe apple/pear/grape combination inherent in Chardonnay quickly evolve into rich scents of mango, pineapple, lemon, butterscotch and subtle smoke. Explosive flavors—tropical fruits and spices with a balancing layer of zesty citrus from the mid-palate on through to the extended finish. Seems to fill every corner of the mouth.

I rarely drink white wine (it's too sweet for me), but my favorite cheap Merlots and Cabernets are Bogle and Smoking Loon. You can't beat the price and I think they are great tasting! And Coppola makes a fantastic wine all around.

I'm a big fan of California wines (can you tell smile35.gif). I used to be huge on Australian and South African wines, but before I knew it I was buying mostly all CA wines.

If you want to splurge (although it's not much more) try the Mer Soleil SILVER.

Only certain white wines are sweet, like Rieslings, etc. There are lots and lots and lots of dry white wines (try a Viognier or an oaked Chardonnay) that won't have the super-fruity or floral aromas, just in case you want to try some more whites! I used to only drink reds, but since I started selling wine for a living, I have obviously learned a lot more and been able to find whites that I love.

There are even dry, non-sweet rieslings. Try an Alsace riesling, most of those are on the f=drier side. There is also one called Kuhl Dry that you might like as a "starter" white if you don't like 'em sweet.

I'm not a big white wine person but my two favorite Red wines

Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 04,05,06 ( $20.00 a bottle)and any montepulciano italian red wine. ( never over $ 15.00 a bottle).

I do have many more but another few good cheap wine is Barefoot Cabernet, Steap Leap Carbernet, Rutherford Hill Carbernet & merlot.

The most outstanding wine I've had in my life was a Barolo that I cannot remember the name of and I've never seen it again sad.gif

BV wine is consistently good and inexpensive Beaulieu Vineyard

Castello di Monsanto makes a great Chianti. (Chianti & pasta w/red sauce...yum!)

I love the Pinot Noir by Kynsi Winery here on the central coast.

Can you tell I like red wine? wink.gif

(And my favorite champagne is Perrier Jouet like Christi mentioned...mmmmm)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
