WHAT TO BRING? - Dreams Cancun

Recommended Posts

So, I booked the Ultimate Package at Dreams Cancun.......but I am not quite sure what I need to bring from home to make it more personal and/or cheaper.?

..

On their website it says that they charge you for each napkin if you want one! From napkins, to flower petals.. etc.

So if there is any ladies that have gotten married there recently...what do you suggest we bring from home ? And what is a good add-on to purchase down at Dreams??

Thanks!! grouphug.gif

I am getting married in Jamaica and am having the same problem $50 a bag of petals for the flower girls and I would need 5 bags to line the isle and then have some for the girls to throw ($50 for petals that fell off the florist flowers and swept up) I asked about bringing the fake petals from Michael's my resort said no but you can try asking yours.

WOW... That is so outrageous!... I can't understand why they won't allow you to bring you own??

I am planning on bringing my own napkins... His and her flutes... Cake knife set... and the petals...

I don't know if there is anything else I need though... Do we need to bring our own cake toppers? Since I haven't been able to get any photos of the cakes, I don't know if they just decorate them with flowers?

I think this would be mainly because fake petals would not be eco friendly and could pose a potential threathuh.gif Like I said that would seem like a logical explanation.

This is what I know...

I do have pictures of the cakes Dreams resort provides. I will be happy to post them again if you need them. In the event you do not like the cakes you can always decide what you want on your cake, if you want different flowers then you pay for flowers, if you want a cake topper, then buy a cake topper. If you are looking for ideas, go to theknot.com or google to find examples so you can email them to the WC. They are very accommodating but you certainly have to do your research to make you wedding uniquely yours.

Also, there are is soo much info on this forum. Just search what you are looking for and the threads will pop up. Also, I HIGHLY reccommend reading completely through this thread:

I know it is quite long but there is soooo much info. When I joined I did just that and so many of my questions were answered. If you have any specific questions you cannot find answers to then please PM me. I have been in communication with Claudia for sometime and have revised my contract about 6 times already and I still have 11 months to go.

Lastly, there is a thread that is awesome about what not to forget. I am going to find it and post once I do. What I did was start a spreadsheet and I am listing items on there as I think about them. Misc Stuff that you just don't think of at the last minute for example extra scissor or glue just to name a couple.

can't speak for cancun, but at dreams pv, we rented table runners for $7 each. used their napkins, plates, etc. brought cake topper and all decorations for table (just little tea lights and holders). we brought fake petals and never even asked - just gave them to the wc to put on the aisle runner. if your resort doesn't let you use petals, try ecofetti - biodegradable confetti. all of their rentals are expensive!!!! i never got a single thing back, so just make sure that you get it back if it's something important to you.

we had 2 cakes, but w/ 30 ppl, it was totally not worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
