She can't do it at our resort either but we're doing our photos with her at Puerto Aventuras instead - we're going to have the resort photographer do our ceremony and family pics and then FI and I are going to do our own photos with someone from Claudia's team.

We're getting married at the Barcelo Maya...

It's really good too because we were going to go with the largest package the resort offers - and now we can go with the smallest plus Claudia's package and we end up saving ourselves something like $700 USD by going with Claudia instead of the resort for everything!

I am also using Claudia Rodriguez. She has great portfolios, very reasonable pricing, and is extremely flexible. I actually got a chance to meet with her on our scouting trip and she is an absolute sweetheart!! I loved her!!! She also only requires a very small deposit up front...which was huge for my fi and I because we are still in the process of saving up for the wedding. I would highly reccomend her.

Well my TA, Hayley from BeachBums, is going to talk to the EDR WC when she goes down for her trip in April and will see if they will allow outside photographers. If so, I will definitely try to schedule Claudia. I also sent an e-mail to Faith (the EDR WC) to tell her how many brides are not happy about EDR's new photographer policy and that it wouldn't be so bad if their photographer did a better job....hopefully a little squeaking will get them to look into their policy....

What about pictures of getting ready/the reception? If you go with the resort's smallest package, are those included? I now at our resort, the smallest package includes ceremony and right after only.

I love Claudia's style, but I'm not sure our resort will allow her (I have to do some checking.) They will allow us to bring in an outside videographer though, so maybe...

I had emailed nearly every wedding photographer in the Cancun/RM area with requests for custom package prices because it is just going to be Karen and I.

The most reasonable offers for what I thought were quality photographers were....

Michael Maurus

Cancun Studios

Anthony Caronia

Claudia Rodriguez

We ended up going with Vanessa Vargas for a number of reasons including price, style, availability and communication. We ended up getting a package with Vanessa that is cheaper than using the resort photographer and videographer also. Thats the great thing about a photographer that will customize a package to get you exactly what you want and need. Never hesitate to ask if they are willing to modify their standard packages.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
