Booking Excusrions Online?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the Xel-Ha and Xcaret websites and it seems much cheaper to just book onlne.

Has anyone done this with success?

I would hate to do it then to be told once we get there they were invalid or something crazy like that. smile67.gif

Ok anyway- and I never booked on line but I dont see why it would be bad, ? I'd say call the hotel and make sure they accept on line confirms.

you are flying funjet right? i'd probably book it online & plan it all out myself instead of going through lomas (who funjet contracts too). They were the only vendors during our trip that I didn't like. They lied to us constantly & were horribly unorganized. The lomas rep kept trying to sell us a xel-ha package for $75 per person. Not sure how that price compares. We were not interested because we had the coba trip planned. We made the mistake of telling our bellhop we had a trip planned to coba. he told us our tour provider was banned. They will try to get you to cancel so they can book you something. The lomas guy tried to cancel our groups deep sea fishing trip.

Since we had a party of 25 he was relentless trying to sell us something. He tried to keep us from getting a cab to go to Paamul for snorkeling.

My advice would be to avoid the lomas guys as much as you can & keep your planned excursions a secret from him. I don't think it was just our guy. I've heard similar things about Lomas.

The next day he said he could get a price less than $75 since we were a group. I don't know if this is good or not. We were not interested. He was pretty mad when he saw we went to coba the next day. he told us we messed up & he could have got us the trip for $400. We had paid $340 and had very professional drivers.

sorry, i'm ranting. that guy really angered me.

Does the online price include transportation? You might want to see what kind of transportation deal you can get. id it your whole group going?

Oh! That looks so fun!!! I am so excited now! Those pictures are great, thank you for sharing!

Okay, crazy question...what does the hotel have to do with the excursions? I figured we would just get our own transportation.

I just realized I spelled "excursions" wrong in the title! shots.gif

I can imagine why he made you mad - i'd have smacked him one lol As soon as I start getting hassle and pressure I walk off - I even do it in shops when people say "can I help" I always say "no thanks" I'm a cow about it lol

I defo want to do Xel-Hal if we get a chance but I'm too far away to book

Thank you for this, Morgan! I was just going to book online at the Xel-Ha website and not through funjet. I wonder if it makes a difference? I should check out pricing?

That Lomas guy is crazy! I have heard nothing but great things about Lomas, I will definitely keep a watchful eye out!

We booked a group fishing trip and the rep from the fishing tour said to not tell Lomas about our trip because they will call and cancel it and try to get us to rebook with them. That is crazy! I guess they don't care and they just want to make money.

We are going to Xel-Ha and Xcaret before everyone gets there. We get there 3 days before everyone else....I know some people in our group want to go, so we may end up going again after they get there.

Thanks for the tip, Morgan!

We booked our Xel-ha tickets on-line and it worked like a charm! It was really nice to not have to bring that much cash with us (we swam with the dolphins). Plus, it's cheaper!

the hotel has travel reps you can book trips through. they are usually seated in the hotel lobby. Ours was in the lobby bar. You can book your own thing but they just made it harder for us. We tried to get a cab & the guy stopped us & said we had to get a van through him for twice as much. we had to sneak past him & hop in a cab.

the hotel staff was supposed to direct us to this guy when we wanted to plan something, but we got them to let us bypass him & just call our own cab.

have you priced transportation? it's a far trip so you might want to make sure that's affordable before you buy anything.

mayanlandscape@live.com.mx I was super happy with these guys. we chartered 2 vans for 20 people for $340. That was do go from puerto aventuras to coba. You can get a quote for cancun to xel-ha. I think xel-ha has a shuttle + enterence fee price. I have heard they make a lot of stops. it was nice having our own van to go at our own schedule.

Did you book on the Xel-ha website? I also don't want to take so much cash with us and the prices are good! I want the package deal with Xel-ha and Xcaret!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
