we will celebrate on the 21st. June 21st is the day we got engaged & will be the day of our wedding. We might do something silly on the 13th. Or just eat fajitas again. Oops sorry biggest losers for bringing it up again smile105.gif

Thanks, Morgan. You're so great to be such an awesome sounding-board for everyone. I love hearing your take on things :)

That's my hesitation at this point. I think I've gotten over the idea of it not being special enough (see below), but my sister is coming on purpose a few days early so she can be there to be my witness. So that makes me feel guilty and I just don't know how everyone would feel if they knew that we were already married. THey shouldn't care, but people are weird.

Once I told a few people they were so supportive of the idea. I started getting more comfortable about it & now I've just embraced legal day as something great. I really am excited to have two weddings- one day that we focus totally on each other & one day that we celebrate with family and friends.
I think in a way I went the opposite way - I was very stubborn with FI about saying there was no way that we could do this because it would take away from the 'magic' of the day. Now I'm thinking it really can't. The two days are so completely different, but both are special in and of themselves in different ways.

That's the other huge piece of this for me - having the legal ceremony in Mexico means it'll be in Spanish and I don't like the ceremony text. It makes it less personal for us, even though we will get to say a few words for our vows... I am thinking now that we may go with a minister (still not super religious) so we may not save on the officiant fee, but we'll still save on the bood work and all the translation of paperwork and hassle of it all.

Plus with a saturday wedding our marriage certificate would have had friday's date on it anyway. After seeing the hassles Michelle08 just posted about her legal paperwork from mexico it really does make legal day more appealing.
Looking forward to hearing your review. ANd seeing all your pics! AND hearing about your legal day in 2 days!

I just talked to FI lastnight to see if he wanted to do the legal ceremony the day before we fly down there like we had planned, or if he wanted to maybe do it on 08/08/08. He didn't really mind which day we did it, since we already decided we would celebrate Nov 30th as our wedding day.

We were going to keep it quiet about the legal ceremony, but a few people found out and they were supportive of it, so I think most people know now and they understand why we are doing it that way.

Morgan - Only 2 more days!!!

yeah what time are you going tomorrow? Make sure you take pics.

I also found out yesterday, well I kind of hinted that for my anniversary gift from EK I would like workout shoes....well he then goes on to say,"which gift? the first one or the second one?" I was like what are you talking abouthuh.gif? Then I figured he was talking about getting a gift from him from our legal wedding day and our cabo wedding day....Hooray I get two presents :).....that means I have to give him two gifts too :)

picking up our witnesses at 10am. I made them a "witness fajita program" badge.

We head to the register of deeds first & then the clerk does weddings from 11-11:30.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
