Thank you! As far as the ceremony, we pretty much just told Jazmin what we wanted when we got there. The only additional things we did was have his sister read a poem and we each took some time to say some things about each other before our vows. You can specify whether you want a Christian based wedding, etc. I really can't believe how smoothly everything went because the pastor showed up a tad late, and yet everything was perfect. So if you have specific things that you want, you just have to let them know and she'll tell the pastor. They are very accomodating...

I'm copying and pasting from what Jazmin sent me. The prices are the same for what we had after our dinner for the reception. A little pricy for a rehearsal dinner. There is plenty of room in the lobby bars for everyone to meet, although it would have to be after dinner and it isn't quite as nice. That's just if you want to have a central meeting place for everyone to meet the night before...Also, I didn't know until right before I left that you need cash for the DJ for these type of dinners / receptions. Just an FYI! :o)

1. Canapés (optional service)
Mixed Canapés 5 pieces 8 US$/pers
Mixed Deluxe Canapés 10 pieces 11 US$/pers

2. Open Bar / extra charge
National Bar:
Beer, Rum, Vodka, Tequila, Cocktails, Gin, Whisky 17US$/pers/hour
extra hour: 12 US$/pers

3.International Bar:
Beer, Tequila, Rum, Vodka Absolute, Whisky JW,
Chivas Regal, Cutty Sark, Cocktails, Gin Beefeater,
wine of the house, sparkling wine 24 USD/pers/hour
extra hour: 18 US$/pers

4. Special Cocktails:
Beer, Piña Colada Cocktail, Margarita Cocktail & Sparkling Wine

5 USD/per/hour
extra hour: 3 US$/pers
5. Music:
DJ music (guests can bring their special songs in cd or I pod to play)

150 USD/per/hour

Note: Choose 1 kind of bars as well as DJ music is necessary to confirm the cocktail party service until 10:30pm.

Prices include local taxes. Tips are not included. Bahía Príncipe reserves the right to modify the prices at any time.

Yuritzia set up my rehearsal dinner in the main Akumal buffet. She actually blocked off a section so it was only for our guests... and it was free! And we didn't stay there long. We ate and then went to the bars and hung out. I wouldn't necessarily waste a lot of money on a rehearsal dinner... not to mention, you don't get to rehearse!

As for the cash... yup, our DJ had to be paid in cash, in full before the event. As for our private reception, that we paid on our credit card at the end of the stay.

Yeah, that is great that she did that for you! I tried to mention something like that to Jazmin and it was a no go for us!

Yup, they offer private receptions. They are $46 per person. There are three meal types. The $46 covers the meal and the open bar... and of course all of the servers

Has anyone ever done the "Additional private meals for groups"?

This is what I have from Jazmin:

3. Theme nights

(Minimum of 50 people)

Gala dinner: 6 starters, 2 soups, 6 main dishes (with seafood), dessert 72 US$/pers

BBQ dinner: 5 starters, 5 main dishes, dessert buffet 46 US$/pers

Mexican night: 5 starters, 5 main dishes, dessert buffet 46 US$/pers

Caribbean night: 5 starters, 5 main dishes, dessert buffet 48 US$/pers

4. Additional Private Meals for groups

(Minimum of 35 people)

Paella: Seafood Paella, Sangría, beers and sodas20 US$ /per

Mixed Grill: Arrachera steak, pork cutlet, chicken, sausage, beers, sodas20 US$/ per

Taquiza: 5 varieties of Tacos with rice, beans and guacamole, beers, sodas15US$/per

American: Hamburgers, Hot Dog, French Fries, beers and sodas12US$/per

***All of these meals will be served with disposable cutlery and dishes.

When I asked her what the difference was between the theme nights and the "additional private meals" she wrote back with this:

The main difference is the food, and the set up is not such elegant as with the thematic or luxe lobster dinner as, but all are set up by the pools,

If you wish a thematic dinner and don´t have the whole number ( min 50) then you can pay for the min number of guest and have it.

As we will only have about 30 people, it makes more sense to do one of the "additional meals" as the minimum is only 35 people. As Jazmin said you have to pay for the 50 guest minimum for the Theme Nights, based on 30 guests it works out to $77 US per person instead of $46.

The 'additional meal' we would do would be the Mixed Grill: Arrachera steak, pork cutlet, chicken, sausage, beers, sodas, it's just I have no idea what that is. Plus, it sounds kind of backyard bbq to me. Not that we're going fancy, it's just it sounds REALLY casual.

Hmmm... I asked for the Mixed grill option and they said I couldn't do it! What a bummer. Then again, she only charged me for 35 people for the theme dinner.

The other difference is the theme dinner is served on china... the other dinners are not (the description that they send you makes this very confusing!).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
