Looking for pool decor inspirations

Recommended Posts

I did a search for this and few things popped up, but not whole lot.

I'm getting married at a private villa, so we have the pool all to ourselves. I'm looking for some ideas for decorations in and around the pool area for an evening/night time reception. I really need pictures because I'm definitely a visual person. TIA.

We usually float lanterns, although we've been known to float birdcages with candles in them wink.gif. You can either go to my gallery or I have a set of photos available on flickr. Flickr: Mishka Designs' Photostream

Oh I had posted a pic LONG time ago that was featured on Martha's website. It was so pretty. I would search for it, but I don't have time. I have meeting to go to in like 2 mins! It describes how to make a tower of chinese lanterns. It was so pretty!

I think this is a terrible pic but I'll still post it anyway. I'm sure you have seen all the floating votives in the pool already, or tiki torches by the pool but here is a different one:

It has overhead hanging lights as well as votives in the pool.

Also here is a link to a beautiful villa in Mykonos:

Villa Hurmuses ≈ Mykonos ≈ Exterior

You can look at the pool area to get some idea. I think if you do floating votives in the pool or just candles all around the pool it will be elegant and beautiful. Or if you are a huge fan of lots of flowers you could do those floating flowers inside the pool.

The lanterns and balls are a great idea - what's going to be costly, however, is the lighting structure. I doubt your villa has something like that which means that someone has to make it. Of course, your destination might be different than here in Mexico where we can't find a majority of the things and have to make, which might make it more cost effective. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
