Sunquest/Northwest Bookings for 2009

Recommended Posts

I have been waiting several weeks for rates. I finally have my rates from both Detroit and Toronto. My problem now is that my wedding invitations are just being sent out and Sunquest is saying we need to out downpayment down pronto to receive the rate quoted (1675) and Northwest is saying we have until June 3 to receive that rate (1625). Don't you usually have a month or more? We are really used to booking last minute so not sure how the group thing works.

Anyone else run into this problem of companies not holding rates very long??

Any suggestions as to what to do as some of my guests won't be aware of the wedding until they receive the invite and may want to wait a month or two before bookinghuh.gif

Help!

Hey

We ran in to the same problem, sunquest told us we had 7 days for the price guarentee.. but then I found out Sunquest change their policy for group rates/weddings and they will hold the price for one month, so I asked our travel agent to email sunquest and they held it for one month. Then once that month is up you can ask for an extension. We have done this twice and still have the guarenteed price and we booked back in March!

try that!

OK this is our experience with our booking with Sunquest using a travel agent here in Toronto. We got a rate in August 2007 for a May 2008 wedding, which we could guarentee up until a certain number of days before departure (60 days?), as long as there was space still available, by paying a deposit of $150 for 10 people ($1500). Any of the bookings could be cancelled or changed up to the 60 days before departure and the deposit was lost.

We paid the deposit and sent out the information with the invitations to all our guests including the contact for the travel agent so people could book directly themselves. We very quickly had the 10 people covered mostly by the two families.

We had some people cancel and lose the deposit, and we also had some last mininute additions.

Hope that helps.

We just booked through Sunquest from Edmonton...

They told us a month, but then we were told as long as they were receiving deposits regularly, they would hold the 30 plane seats until demand exceeded supply. They would honour that price until 60 days before the wedding, and if the price went down, they would issue the difference in travel vouchers.

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
