OOT bags... Buyer BEWARE!

Recommended Posts

Yep, Jamaica is international.

Here's what the American Airlines website says:

Customers traveling on an international itinerary to destinations beyond the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, or Canada will not be charged a service fee to check a second bag.

Here's United's policy:

It looks like Northwest isn't as kind and considers anywhere in the caribbean as domestic flying: Domestic Travel (within the U.S./Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) Coach Class for tickets issued on/after March 29, 2008 for travel on/after May 5, 2008: Each ticketed passenger is allowed one (1) piece of checked luggage.

Here's Delta's policy: Currently, you can check two bags per passenger free of charge. Starting May 5, 2008 this will be reduced to one free bag per passenger traveling in the U. S., the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Looks like Jamaica is in the clear on this airline, too. Before you book, just be sure and check specifically with your airline regarding their policy.

Your stuff looks great! But that's exactly why I don't think I'm doing OOT bags. I know that I would not be able to stop myself. And since I would have to make about 40 of those babies, it would be insane! I think I'm going to buy beach towels at the StrawMarket when I get down there and give everyone a "Welcome Roll" instead. A Towel, a lipbalm, postcards which I can buy locally and the welcome letter and itinerary for the weekend.....call it a day! It's useful to my guests, I'm stimulating the local economy, and I don't have to haul all the crap down for them! It's a win/win situation! I'm figuring roughly around $6.00 - $8.00 a person.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
