Any other Riu brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I finally got confirmation from Riu to book our wedding! Phew, one thing off my list of things to stress about! Aimee, I'm in the same boat as you now - I am not sure what else I have to arrange with the WC before we go down there. I get the feeling that most details are actually worked out when we get there, but am I missing anything?

Shelly, I wish I knew! The only other thing I want to definatly confirm is the location of the reception. I tried emailing the WC but she hasn't replied yet. I think i'm gonna try calling her soon. All of this stress is making my wedding planning not very enjoyable...

By the way, congratulations on confirming your day & time. I hope you didn't have too much of a hard time.

Congratulations! That is definately a relieving e-mail to receive!

Aimee, I've e-mailed the wc as well to ask a few questions regarding the reception and haven't heard back yet. Oh well, I am going to trust others that it will all work out. From reading other posts on this threat, I think we just have to be patient in awaiting a response.

Hello Eveyone,

I have looked into the RIU Negril and Ocho Rios resorts for my wedding. Just like the rest of you, i have had a really hard time getting pricing or even a human to talk to on the phone.

Does anyone know any wedding coordinators at that hotel? Anyone been to these resorts that can share any thoughts...

Good luck to everyone!

Congrats Sarah! Your wedding isn't too far away at all now!

Can you shed some light on one of my questions? Just wondering what arrangements you have made thus far with the wedding planner other than the package/date/time? Have you picked where your reception will be held? Just trying to figure out what we need to plan before we get there and what waits for that first meeting. Thanks!

Hi Shelly

I have reserved my reception. I am having a private reception at the Mexican restaurant terrace. If you want a private reception or it to be on the beach I would email her and keep emailing her to get it reserved. My ceremony is at 4pm and the reception is booked for 6:30. I have sent her ideas for flowers and cakes aswell. I told her I would like the Marachi band, but you only need to do this 2 weeks in advanced. The rest of the details we will work out when we get there. I would suggest that if there is anything for your reception or ceremony that you really want, I would email her before hand and arrange, so you are not dissapointed when you get there.

For me the location of the reception, the decorations provided, the menu and the flowers were most important.

hope the helps!

Good luck with the planning

Sarah

Thanks Sarah! That does help a bunch. So I guess I just keep on e-mailing her until I get the things arranged that I want. For the cake for example, did you e-mail her pictures of ideas you liked? Just trying to figure out how the best way to go about this successfully is...

Thanks to you now I have a much clearer to-do list! Thank you so much for the guidance - much appreciated!!!!!

Hello fellow RIU Brides.

I have looked into and contacted the RIU reosrts in Jamaica for wedding information and pricing.

I got an email this morning from them saying that they are not booking any weddings in 2008 yet. I have to wait untill April to contact them back again. They didnt even include any information or packages for 2007 for me to compare.rant.gif

Hs anyone out there had their wedding at one of these resorts that could help me with a little insight on pricing. I just need an idea to see if it is within our budget.

Thanks for your help msnwink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
