NYJen's Review of Los Cabos Airport Shuttle

Since the R/T airport transfers provided by the hotels in Cabo are really expensive, Brendan and I decided to find our own transportation company and pay for this service for our guests. We ended up doing "collective service", since it was a lot less expensive. I worked with Gabriela at Los Cabos Airport Shuttle and she was great to work with. I give her an A. However, I give the company itself a C.

I had created an Excel spreadsheet listing all my guests, their arrival airline, flight #, date, time, hotel and departure information. We only had 33 guests, yet they made quite a few mistakes.

19 of our guests were on one flight, so I paid for a private bus to pick them up. I needed 2 child car seats on that bus and I paid to have bottled water given out to everyone. Well, they put both car seats next to each other in the front row (not smart) and one of the car seats WASN'T EVEN WORKING!!! They also forgot the water. I called the company (but I didn't speak to Gabriela directly) and I mentioned that we were using the same bus the next night to take us to the Welcome Dinner and they needed to give us two car seats that worked and move them to the middle of the bus. When they arrived to pick us up for the Welcome Dinner, I checked the bus first to make sure we had two new car seats and that they were moved . . . they weren't. But the driver was very helpful with trying to fix the seats and he did move them to the middle of the bus after I told him to. This was very frustrating and embarassing.

We also had one couple that was never picked up (they had to find another shuttle to take them to their hotel - I was VERY embarassed by this and I ended up paying them back for their trip.) When I emailed Gabriela about it, she tried to tell me they were a "no show" but the information I had on my spreadsheet was correct and THEY WERE THERE!!! She ended up sending them a private Escalade on their return trip to make up for it.

The day my sister left, her shuttle never showed up. After waiting 15 minutes, I called and was told their shuttle broke down. When I said, "Did you send another one?" They said they would do it then. Why didn't they just send it right away, I don't know. We waited another 15 minutes and then Brendan and I finally just drove my sister and her boyfriend to the airport. This was during all the American Airlines cancellations so we couldn't wait around.

A few of our guests said that they had trouble finding "Los Cabos Airport Shuttle" at the airport. The company was suppose to have a rep hold up a sign that said "McFarland/Magee wedding." Some of the time they held it up, some of the time they didn't.

As my guests were arriving, and they would tell me about their experienece with the shuttle company, I would emailed Gabriela about the problems and she was great. She made up for most of it by providing some private Escalade's for our guests on their returns to the airport.

I wasn't looking to get any money back, I just wanted everything to run smoothly. We didn't have 100's of people. And this isn't rocket science. They weren't horrible and for the most part, they did a good job. I know there are going to be some mistakes. But honestly, I expected the service to be a little better. There are tons of great transportation companies in Cabo - do your research and make sure you have a point of contact that you can call or email with any problems you come into. Or better yet, have your WC take care of this for you. I didn't do that, and now that I think about it, I should have. It would have made my life a lot easier that weekend.

There was another company I saw a lot called Transcabo. You may want to look them up too.

I can understand your frustration, sometimes money is not an issue but you want things done right.

There is one thing I learned is to have the wedding coordinator take care of everything. I personally think that vendors are more careful when dealing with them because they do not want to loose their business not to mention the peace of mind.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
