I really don't like using the lightner/bleach cream. It doesn't feel right, makes me look worse, and is too much work to apply and keep off of where I don't want it.

I will have to check into photo facials. I haven't heard of them and I sure as heck don't want to end up like the lady that turned red and hurt.

I also have this problem and I have been thinking about it a lot lately since my wedding is in June! It is truly a huge PITA. I have used Tri-Luma, which worked well for me. I have also used Glyquin, which I didn't like as well. I really just need to avoid the sun as much as possible before the wedding.

Maybe what I have is hypopigmentation. There is a triangle under my chest that stays white. It started in high school & I think it has gone now. The last few summers I haven't noticed it. It only pops up if I'm tan.

I've been in the sun a lot less the last 4 years so maybe that is why it went away. When it was at it's worst people would ask why I had a funny tan line. They assumed it was from a swimsuit that had a bow or something.

I take BC now, but I didn't take it when the triangle first showed up.

I had this about 10 years ago or so. My mom told me that BD made her do that when she was younger. I've never been on BC for more than maybe 4 years total in my life, and back then maybe 2 years straight. But yet, every time I'd go outside, even just to do gardening, it looked like I had a mustache from where the skin on my upper lip would tan more than the rest of me.

I haven't been off BC for probably 9 years now, and I haven't had the problem since going off.

I love this thread! -so I'm not the only one?!?! :)

My mom always told me it would happen, since I never put any sunscreen on my face-- and it never burned. Last summer, out of nowhere- I got dark spots on my upper lip (nice!) and on my cheeks.... I went to a spa here in Raleigh, and bought a package of 4 lactic acid peels. The girl doing them seems to know her s**t, and after 3 of the peels, I can see a noticeable difference. I have one more scheduled- and after that last peel, my wedding is in 2 weeks. I'm now the girl who puts on 30+ on her face just to go run outside!

The package wasn't especially cheap --it was $350, but that included a 20% tip-- so far, it has been worth it....I know wish I had taken some before and after pix!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that gets the dark spots on their upper lip!!!

Mine started a couple of years ago out of nowhere and I hate them!! It almost looks like I have dirt on my face or something. So I try not to let that spot get tan.

also, last week DH told me I have these spots on the back of my neck, he says it kind of looks like a leopard, but I can't see them because of where they are, so I'm wondering if it is the same thing.

The worst part is that he told me its been there for about a year, the first time he saw it he thought it was dirt, but he said its not always really noticeable, it gets darker when I sweat or something (all of this according to him, lol!) So I think I'm going to have to call the derm and get it looked at because he said its gotten worse.

Yea, hyper and hypo pigmentations are really annoying pains in the butts. My two suggestions have already been said - 1. Microdermabrasion and 2. Laser Facials (Photo Facial). Micro will help, but if the hyperpigmentation keeps coming back, then you need something stronger such as the laser facial. I'm not a fan of putting a bleach on your skin.. in my opinion, I wouldn't want it to cause anymore damage. You can even check out a plastic surgeon that does this type of skin treatments.

Hypopigmentation?

Over the past few months I have noticed a few hypopigmented spots on both of my upper arms. They are small, round areas that are unusually dry. They dont' appear to tan - and just become more pronounced. I was concerned for a while, then they disapeared, but now are back. I have been crazy busy with other stuff that I nevre really think/worry about them.

My sister recently commented that she has simialr spots as well. She is going to the derm in a couple of months to get them looked at.

Anyone familair with hypo? Is there anything to be concerned about?

I remember a friend having light spots that turned out to be a fungus that grows on your skin when you are in the sun too much. This was in high school & I don't remember the details. But, it wasn't a big deal. Nothing like a flesh eating bacteria.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
