Las Caletas Brides ~ Post HERE! (THREAD CLOSED)

Recommended Posts

Oh and Jaime- my guests had a blast. I have had so many people from my work (a few of my family members work at the same company as me too) tell me that they heard I had the most gorgeous wedding. It really does blow a traditional wedding out of the water. Your guests will leave in awe.

This is the one negative feeling I have about Caletas and my wedding day ... the fact that I was sick. I didn't get to explore (I wanted to!), and I didn't get to experience the full "impact" of Caletas. It was all I could do just to smile. I so wish I felt better - the entire expericen would have been just so much more amazing! But, I guess, we'll just have to go back when we feel better. Deal? lol

Rachel & Ann - What were the two of you sick with, respectively? Was it stomach issues or more sinus/cold stuff? I can't imagine being sick to your stomach and having to take the boat ride out there and everything sick.gif That would certainly put a damper on your plans! smile35.gif

Kati - we're both in Toronto and my wedding is confirmed for the day after yours! Congrats on confirming your date!

It's so amazing to hear over and over again from everyone that their guests rave about how unique and magical the wedding was...I'm only sorry to hear that more than one person felt sick on the actual day...

Rachel, I am so excited to see more of your pictures -- I keep showing them to my FI going "look we can should do that and look we should do this" -- referencing the tequila bottles....

I am fairly certain it was something I ate ... I was queasy from about Thurs night (our wedding was Friday) to the next Mon. or so. Not cool! I never actually threw up, though I tried to all night the nighe before the wedding. And I was in the bathroom a lot (eeewww, TMI). The boat ride wasn't as bad as I thought, it was just that crappy feeling all day long that sucked.

I hate that I never got to have the champage and margaritas in the casita, and all that stuff. And there just aren't many (or any?) pictures of me with a huge smile, ya know? That's the hard part!

I came down the a cold prior to me leaving. I was popping pills like crazy and I thought I had it nearly beat by the time I got there. I drank for a few days and that probably helped the bug creep up on my immunity again. During our welcome dinner the night before the wedding, I just felt like crap. My cough got so deep and I couldn't breathe. My family gave me z-pak or whatever it is. $24 in MX for 6 pills! I'm still sick with the cold now that I'm back. I've had it for nearly 3 weeks now. Probably time to see the doctor.

Oh and to comment about the boat ride- I get motion sickness pretty easily in the car or on the plane. The boat didn't bother me at all- I didn't take any dramomine either. My mom did- she was fine. My grandma who was SUPER worried about the boat didn't get sick coming or going. It's not bad at all. The wind does pick up in the afternoon so some commented that when they were coming over for the wedding it was rough. No casualties though. :)

My guests STILL talk about how amazing our wedding was - they all say we've ruined them for any other wedding now. It could never live up! And while that wasn't necessarily our goal, it does put a smile on our faces! And our guests, mostly Paul's friends, are now planning an annual trip since they had so much fun. How cool is that!? Except the fact that we can't go this year due to Nugget's arrival! Oh well ... next year!

Oh totally Ann. My guests had such a blast- not just the wedding day, but the whole trip, everyone wants to make it an annual thing. They were already talking about Grand Cayman while we were there. I thought it was funny.

Plus it's inspired my grandparents to travel more. We are doing a quick trip to Reno with my parents this summer and my mom said now my grandparents want to come and my aunt too! I was like wow, this trip inspired everyone to have more group trips!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
