Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide on flowers for the wedding but am not very knowledgeable about the subject. I would like to Peonies and Orchids as my flowers. Does anyone know if these are flowers that will be in bloom in Mexico during my wedding?

My wedding is in May (although this year) and I am getting married in Cancun. I wanted peonies but they would have been super expensive. The florist said they were going to have to have them shipped in from Holland or something. Not sure if that is true or just an exageration. But I am going to use orchids, roses, cala lilies and stargazer lilies and they were all reasonably priced.

Peonies and orchids are not native for this area and they both have to be shipped in. Therefore the price is usually more expensive then other flowers such as roses. Orchids are available, however they will always need to be pre ordered. they are usually shipped from Mexico City and have a fee of $20 each flower.

Peonies are not easy to find. I have never seen them here and think they are not available. You might indeed be able to ship them in from Holland however this is probably very expensive. THe other problem could be that they might not withstand the heath and humidity of this area.

I hope this information helps.

I actually suggested doing silk to my MOH and she hated the idea. Maybe I need to get a few more opinions! LOL!

This is EXACTLY the information I was looking for. I am flower and plant retarded. My FI says I could kill a plastic plant! Anyway, I would like to get something native to the area so I am not stressing about the arrival if they need to be shipped! Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
