Hmmmmm, I dont understand. Daniella ok'ed Cecilia Dumas for our TTD and Mannia Audio for our DJ which are both outside vendors. Maybe I dont understand outside vendors. We do have to pay for their day passes but other then that no problems.

I'm finding Claudia doesn't want to substitute anything. I read on the forum how one bride substituted the dessert in the package for a larger wedding cake. When I asked for this (multiple times), she said they wouldn't do it. Since someone else said the dessert was better than the cake, I may just take the standard cake and keep the dessert.

I wish they were more flexible and I really don't want to fight on every little substitution. I picked a destination wedding for LESS stress, not MORE.

Well, a few weeks ago Daniella told me yes to the Photographer and now Claudia is giving me a no but I just wrote her and told her I have an email from Claudia saying it was OK. So, hopefully she will let it slide. I wish they were easier to get a hold of. Other than the Photographer and DJ I am not changing anything! So, I will be an easy bride lol

They have certain ones they work with and she could give you a choice if you ask.

I think many of us want to control the details which is hard from afar.
I know I did... but they have the wedding packages and such for a reason. They have a wedding almost everyday at Dreams Cancun.

I look back and think I should have just let them plan it all as the package was... less stress for me and it still would have been just perfect!
Paula, I thought the same thing! It would have been so much less stressful, not to mention less expensive, if I had just taken the package and run with it. All the things I stressed about, worried about, wanted to change, etc... they have it setup to run seamlessly.

I decided which things I didn't want in the package and I decided what things I wanted that weren't included and then I emailed claudia a list and said I don't want XYZ, instead I'd like to substitute ABC. She did say no to some of the things I requested, but did allow some. They may have gotten stricter on that, I'm not sure.

And yes, the dessert is better than the cake, I think only one or two people even ate a piece of cake, we didn't even have it served because we had dessert, so people just helped themselves if they wanted some. I love cake with sweet frosting, this cake was not very good. So I wouldn't really worry too much about it.

Okay, this is probably obvious to some but I'm confused. We are going with the Silver menu package and on our contract it says for the plated dinners choose: 1 salad, 1 soup, 1 entree, 1 dessert. And then I have a separate list with the menu. Soo... the menu lists 3 entree choices for dinner. I guess my question is, do my guests each choose 1 of the 3 or do I pick one of the 3 and everyone eats the same thing?

Wow, I think I've confused myself. Am I making sense? I want to get my Invites out and was thinking about putting entree choices on it if thats a possibility.

Maybe I should just go with the buffet!

hey harty!

yes, we're getting married on the 4th of may down there. but i just got it FINALLY confirmed by Daniella YESTERDAY!! very frustrating. i do understand how busy they are and have a ton of weddings daily or whatever. but all i wanted was a confirmation that my date was set and reserved for me and me only. i had even said in every email to her that all i wanted to do was put down the deposit so my date would be set. (so crazy, that someone would delay getting back to me when i all i wanted to do was give them my money. haha!) but after a few long days of panicking and awaiting her response, she finally said it was booked for me and that she'd write up the contract and will send it to me sometime next week. i'm totally cool with that. i'm not about to start picking out cakes and colors since i have so much time still. especially since i am doing a site visit with my family this october when i think i will do majority of the detailed planning part of the wedding. but yeah, i just wanted to get the confirmation from her too, mostly so i could book my photographer (the 2 most important things out of the way, YAY!). so i am finally at ease.

i'm staying at the resort for one week total, leaving 2 days after the wedding, but then am transferring to another resort for a week honeymoon (location unknown... a surprise ooh la la honeymoon that the hubby is setting up for me, i love that!! heehee!) i would have loved to meet you and tell you how everything went for me, but it looks like i'll probably miss you by a few days? we leave on the 6th, what date are you going down there?

but again, regarding your question, it did take a few days to finally hear an answer from her about my confirmed date, and it made me crazy too, but a lot of people here said the same thing... that to just hang in there and try to be a little patient, especially if your wedding isn't in the absolute nearest future. they will respond back to you soon.

hang in there girlie! it'll all work out. ;-) let me know about your dates!

You have to choose one entree, one salad, and so one...so it's up to you prior to your guests getting there. Hope this helps.

Well that kinds stinks... So I can't give them a choice of chicken or beef huh? Do you know if any of the other more expensive packages will let me have options? I'd normally just go with chicken (who doesn't like chicken, right?) but i have a few vegetarian guests.

Help, what do I do?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
