Funny, because I was actually the one that didn't really want mexico because it seemed spring breakish, but after researching every carribean island they were all either too expensive for our guests, we had already been to that island, or it was an island we didn't really want to go to for our wedding. Dreams was one of the first hotels my TA suggested to me when we started looking and I just kept avoiding it because I didn't want to go to cancun for my wedding. But the more I thought about it, I'm getting married in October and dreams is more of a family resort, so I've gotten over it, and everyone says cancun is beautiful so that makes me feel better. I just want everyone to have a great time.

I think my problem is that 1) it's hard to get information, I've never been to any of the resorts! 2) and most importantly, we want a wedding over new year's, and Tammy has pointed out that the rates are MUCH higher at that time of year, so it will be much less affordable for our guests...

So, I either need to down grade, OR I need to pick a different time of year.

But the problem is that we have teachers in the Uk and the US in both families, and so finding a time of year when everyone has off is tough. I wanted to do this summer, since everyone is off, but Eric's sister is having a baby, so can't travel, and my sister is having her wedding! So they would be too close together.

Do I have to push it to 2008, I don't want to... sad.gif

I love the christmas time idea.

But it's no good if I have to go for a crappy location because of prices... sad.gif

By the way Jen, Tammy sent me some great info. Just to be aware, the Grand Palladium only has one venue for private receptions, and it's not guaranteed to be available and costs 900 dollars extra...

Thanks for all the help Tammy!!! You're wonderful.

How frustrating!!! Have you decided what you are going to do??
Yeah, I got the info from Tammy also.....I think that we're not that worried about a private reception.....I don't know....I keep going back and forth. I read all of these great ideas for what people are doing (firedancers, fireworks, Dj's ect) and I think I want to have all of that....then again, if we're already at an all-inclusive....we can just all go to the bar!!! Hahahaha!!! I don't know, I've been feeling REALLY overwhelmed lately sad.gif

I know, it is really overwhelming...

For me, a private reception is important though, you'll have all the other days to go to the bar in the all inclusive... But i can see your point, low stress and a great way to save money!

Now i think I'm considering Riu Palace Mexico, and Moon Palace...

I think I have decided to push it out to February. That means I'm not getting married this year and I will have been engaged for 2 years when I get married finally!!!!

I have a client that has been to Moon Palace (this is also one of the one's that we're looking at) and she said it was really beautiful.
I've done some research on that one in particular, and they offer quite a lot in their wedding packages...

I'm going to search the Grand Palladium too...

I know exactly how you're feeling. My fiance and I have been trying to decide for the past month or so. I think that we've finally decided on the Grand Palladium. I really like the idea of having a private dinner set on the beach with some torches-but not too sure if this is possible or even affordable.

But I totally understand the feeling of relief that we have finally made the decision of where to hold the wedding. I know that we still have a lot of things to plan and work out, but atleast we have that done and over with.

Margaret,

Just my opinion but I would stick with either Grand Baha or Grand Palladium. I have read and heard good things wedding wise for both these resorts.

Iberostar, Its hard to find a lot of info wedding wise on them.

Moon palace, is great but in Cancun not Riviera Maya (I think)

RIU Palace, pricey

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
