What made you have a destination wedding? Did you look into weddings here and if so, where? I've noticed theres a lot of us NJians on here and its probably bc we're the only smart ones to go away and not have to spend $60K+ on a decent wedding.

So lets get to know each other! I'm Jenny and I live in Monmouth County.. Freehold

the cost was definitely a factor on why i went away. damn jersey weddings are $$$. plus, i love to travel and i'm so not into the whole traditional wedding thing. plus i knew if we had a NJ wedding, my MIL would invite her whole town and i so didn't want that. i wish i could have a DW every year!!

I didn't want a really expensive wedding and I wanted something small and intimate. If we were to get married in NJ I know my parents and his parents would invite all of their friends and our families are already big enough. Plus the beach is a beautiful place for a wedding and everyone that goes gets a vacation. Can't beat that!

I'm Danielle and i live in Camden County, Bellmawr. I used to live in Gloucester County, Washington Twp.

I grew up in Morris County but live in Queens now but I will always be a Jersey Girl (Im there enough visiting friends and family all the time plus we are most likely buying a house there so Im coming back) LOL enough of my ranting.

I never wanted a traditional wedding, and when it came down to it to have a decent wedding in this area the cost is nuts!!!!! I could never imagine spending that much money for one day so we both agreed 100% on a destination wedding and are extremely happy with our decision.

i'm originally from monmouth county (marlboro), but now live in morris county.
thats funny bc I'm kinda going through that right now. She's giving us lists of people that we don't know of.. example- she says,"My dear friend from grade school..she came to your christening" WHO?! WTF? Thank god my FI is quick to say,"Mom, if I haven't seen these people in the last year of my life, they don't need to come to my wedding!"

Hi. I'm from Passaic County...born & raised. We both didn't want a traditional wedding plus the prices out here are outrageous so we didn't want to spend a small fortune on one day of festivities. We went to a DW 2 years ago and immediately fell in love with the whole concept. When we got engaged, we never even considered having a wedding in NJ or NY...it never came up in conversation, we didnt visit any places...it was more like "what country should we get married in?" then we took it from there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
