Where Can I Incorporate the Over the Rainbow Song?

Recommended Posts

I think I've narrowed down the songs for the wedding ceremony. However, I'd still like to incorporate Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" song. When should I play this? During the sand / unity candle ceremony or after the recessional while everyone else is leaving or someplace else altogether? Here's my rather traditional song line-up so far:

Prelude

“Air on a G String†- Bach

Seating of the Mothers

“Jesu, Joy of Manâ€s Desiring†- Bach

Brideâ€s Processional

“Canon in D†- Pachelbel

Lighting of the Unity Candle / or Sand Ceremony

“Guitar Concerto in D. Major, Largo†-Vivaldi

--OR—

“Romance in F†-Beethoven

--OR—

“Somewhere over the Rainbow†- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Recessional

“Spring from the Four Seasons†- Vivaldi

--AND??--

“Somewhere over the Rainbow†- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

I like the idea of doing it during the sand ceremony b/c sometimes when people are leaving they don't really pay attention to the music that is playing. They are usually just hungry and want to get to the food. I think during the sand ceremony would be really pretty.

Me too... it got everyone in tears. It's such a moving song, I couldn't have picked a better song to walk out to.

I still get goosebumps when I hear it

I think we've decided to use it as our grand entrance song when we're coming in for the reception. Since all of the other songs were classical and since our ceremony will be in a chapel on the beach, we thought that using the rainbow song might not mix too well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
