Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

My FI had a hard time with that initially as well. He could not grasp the concept of paying on and AI resort. I then showed him how much MORE it would cost if we decided to stay in New Orleans and get married and he QUICKLY changed his mind. It does seem to me you get a whole lot for the money you spend and from what the past brides have said it seems to be well worth it. Not to mention we get something amazing for free..scenery!

Is anyone not bothering with gazibo decor and chair bows ect... Just wondered what peoples veiws are on this ? We were going to have an upgraded cake too but decided not to as we think it will be a waste of money if people dont eat it. I've gone from thinking "theres gonna be no one there with us to celebrate" to "oh my god it looks like we're gonna have alot more people than what we thought" and our budget just keeps rising, I wished I hadn't invited all the people we did now before I knew about the additional charges PP, does that sound really selfish ? Its just I really think we're gonna have to cut back on the extras that I really wanted to accomodate more guests, I know this may sound silly because our wedding is still so far away but when you have a figure in your mind and it keeps creeping up its quite scary,AAARRRR !

Jodey, your wedding will be beautiful no matter what, I would have loved to have had 20 more people come with us, I definetly would have had to cut some stuff out, but I would have rather have had everyone we loved with us!

Here's my advice:

Don't upgrade your cake. I did only because I wasn't using the photographer, so I needed a couple of things to make up for that credit, so I figured I'd box up the extra cake and people could take it to there rooms, but not many people did and believe me no one would miss it.

Also, there is dessert included in your package, which in my opinion, was SOO much better than the cake.

So, what I'm saying is just use the cake thats in the package, after we cut it we just left it there for people to eat if they wanted some and I think only one or two people ate a piece.

Gazebo decor, you really don't need it, if you're looking for an area to save a little, don't bother, and as far as the chair bows, I didn't want to pay extra for them, but she ended up putting some on, they weren't the exact color I would have chosen, but they were free and looked nice. I have a feeling that in order for the white chair covers to stay on the chairs with the wind, that they actually need to use chair bows, so you may just get them for free. If not, the white covers really look fine.

Also, I think I mentioned this in my review, don't pay for extra bottles of champagne. I originally wanted to have a champagne toast right after the ceremony, but the cost per bottle was kind of ridiculous! So I decided against it. Well, at dinner they set up wine glasses, water glasses, and champagne glasses on the table. The waiter came up to me and asked if we'd like champagne for a toast and I said yes! So, we didn't pay anything for that either.

I'm not sure if you're doing the package or if you're paying for things a la carte, but if you don't do the package, you could cut out the cocktail hour as well to save a little bit of money, I know some girls have mentioned this.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know, good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
