Shelley,

we stayed at Paradisus Palma Real, which is an AI. I am not usually a fan of big resorts and I really, really liked it. It is new (18 to 24 months old), everything is very well maintained, the food is good, there are a lot of activities, the beach is AWESOME!, the spa is fantastic, it is not too far from the airport (drive time). i thought it was pretty affordable. We went for a DW and did an air/hotel package for a week.

Also - i have heard amazing things about Tortuga Bay (i don't know what their website is but they are listed on Luxury Link Tortuga Bay Hotel, Dominican Republic - LuxuryLink.com). Friends stayed here and raved about it - apparently it was designed by Oscar de la Renta and is amazing!

also - DR has some of the best beaches ever!

Hey Shelley~

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking canopy tours is along the lines of ziplining, or a little similar.

Here is a site in/near PC that offers zip line tours (among other tours/activities) that we are thinking about checking out during our visit: WELCOME TO :: FARALLON ZIP-LINES ADVENTURES

Its currently $89/pp for 4 1/2 hours.

I know, it sounds fun! I was thinking about doing this with my guests, but I think it lasts for about 8 hours. I think that may be too long, seeing that most guests will only be there for 4 days, and I'm already taking up some of their vacation time for the wedding! So maybe me and the FI can do this during our honeymoon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
