how should I sell the unworn dress??

bre

Recommended Posts

Okay, so last February I bought a stunning Amsale dress at the Fileneâ€s Basement “running of the brides†for $500. I think the dress retails for upwards of $2,500.

I ended up buying another dress and want to sell the Amsale.

Itâ€s never been altered or worn. Do you think I could try to sell it for closer to retail? If so, how could I find out what it goes for at a bridal shop?? We have some debt from the wedding so I don't want to walk away from any money.

It had been on the Amsale sight forever and now it's not on there smile41.gif Does this mean they aren't offering it as part of the collection??

I was thinking of putting it on craigs list first, then eBay. Any advice on how to sell it would be much appreciated!

Put it on here! Someone may be looking for one just like it! And I say price it at what you feel comfortable. See if anyone else is selling anything similar out there, and then choose a price you're comfortable offering. Maybe a BDW discount at the price you paid, but ebay and craigslist at closer to retail, but at an off season price?

And how dare you ask us withoout putting up a pic! Shame on you! wink.gif

Does your dress have a style number on it? We could help you find it too, otherwise if you do post on EBay you can have it on a "reserve" price - that way if people do not bid as much as you want you don't have to sell it. Maybe you could post it on here too - I would post in as many places as I could! Hope this helps!

I would try and sell it on here! Amsale does some beautiful dresses and many brides-to-be might be interested! Of course you just told us how much you paid for it wink.gif

Anyway, I sold my dress (used) for about 70% of the original price. However it was vcery well known and in high demand. For your dress I would sell it under retail but close to it. What about selling it for about $1000 - $1500. I feel like you have to be under retail enough to make it worthwhile for someone to buy it from you instead of a shop.

I used Craigslist but I also posted it up on PartyPop and other places for the widest audience.

Thanks for the tips ladies!smile123.gif

I was going to post the link to the photo on the Amsale site but it wasn't there. I'll post one when I get home. It's a stunning dress but better for a non-summer wedding. It would be perfect for a wedding in the fall or winter b/c it's a really heavy satin. I bought it when I thought we would get married in Boston. That's why I didn't think of posting it here. But I guess it's worth a try! (even if you do know what I paid....)

I would search the style number and Amsale on google. Other retailers are probably selling the dress. See what they have it up for then put yours up a little less. I'm sure you'll get someone's attention.

That is how I found my dress to purchase. I searched the modle number and the dress manufacturer and found a couple of sites selling it for 598.00 but I got the dress at another dealer for 239.00. PM me if you want my help.

Site didn't work. I have been watching ebay because I also have a dress or two to sell but they don't seem to be going for much right now.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
