how do i change my bridal party?

Recommended Posts

need serious advice...

we are getting married @ dreams, cancun in july. my parents orgianally said that they wont be able to make it [too expensive] so we were going to have a wedding here in the states prior to our trip to cancun. Family here, friends there. Turns out that they will be able to come!!! YAY!!! im so excited.. but now i want my sister to be my maid of honor and my younger siblings to be my bridal party...

what do i do about the 2 other girls that are currently my bridal party ... i hardly even talk to them and my MOH is his best girl-friend... what should i do and how should i do it ?

Depending on how many younger siblings you have and/or how big you want your bridal party to be, I say add your friends as well. Or if you don't want a huge bridal party, maybe even have them take part in the ceremony as something else. For instance, if you're doing a sand ceremony, maybe they can help read it.

I would just add your sisters on to your attendants. Have 2 MOH's! I've been on the receiving end of something like this and it's not fun. Nobody likes to feel like they are expendable and everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. I mean these girls were willing to travel a long ways and spend a lot of money to be there for you and honor you. So that should definately be honored. Being a bridesmaid isn't always fun and can be expensive, so if you think your friends would be ok with being honored guests then let them know but do so sweetly and kindly. But honestly, I think adding on is the best way to go. These girls were will to be there for you when your family could not.

Even if the girls you were going to have in your DC bridal party are hurt a little bit you need to be honest with them and tell them the situation. I do think they should still be involved somehow whether in your bridal party or helping with the ceremony but this is your day and your sister and family should be involved if possible. Its your day!!

Karen makes some excellent points.
Add them all in!

Just add the other girls on. It's ok to have 4, even if there aren't 4 GM.

I hardly ever hear from 2 of my BM's anymore either -- so if they haven't spent much money yet, and you are comfortable with it, I'd explain it to them and see. Maybe they are feeling muvch like being BM's anymore. One of mine backed out and another I know would rather not be one now but she's already sunk the $$ into everything.

So, you definitely have some options ... but for sure add the family members either way!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
