eBay Store - Factory2u2: Hunting Camping Gear, Home Decor Rugs Blankets, Curtains Chandeliers Canopys

I bought 16 luggage locks from this ebay seller. They were $36. I believe they have more.

I wanted combo locks so people don't have to keep track of a key. You can also change the combos. I think I'll make them all the same incase someone forgets it. Probably a number that is meaningful.

Good idea to have that little case for by the pool. I might just rig something up with my laptop lock. I've already spent too much on locks!

Very cool safe. FI and I have a small safe in our house that we have keys for. We just went to get in it the other day but noticed both our keys are missing off our key rings. I paniced and freaked out. My sister has the same safe and oddly enough- same key. How dumb is that? It's like suitcase keys. Thankfully all our stuff was still in the safe, but I was scared it wasn't.

I like the idea of having a combo lock but hopefully I wouldn't forget it!

I plan on getting a cute travel wedding ring. I already have fake earings I travel with. I don't take anything valuable on trips. Not worth the worrying. My camera is the only thing of value I take, but i keep it on me all the time. I'll have to lock it in my luggage when we go snorkeling. I'll remove the SD card first too so no one will get my pictures. I'd rather have a bunch of money stolen than pictures.

That's a good idea about the memory card! Thx, I will keep that in mind too when we go away!

i CANT leave all my valuables at home sad.gif my valuables is what i take the photos with.. but thank god for insurance right wink.gif

on a HAPPIER note and more positive. i had two friends of mine go down to the tulum area for their honeymooon and while they were riding around on a moped two guys on motorcycles rode by and snagged her purse and rode off. they chased after them through the city streets and the police saw them and chased after them all. the bandits rode into the jungle but the police conducted a man hunt and found them and returned the purse to my friends. luckily because all their passports and such were in their.

they were really impressed with how cooperative the police were and they were even interviewed by the mexican news stations.

so i guess not all plice are bad but ive heard many stories of robberies in the hotel rooms and i dont think i would quite trust those safes too much...

Yep, we brought our laptop with us to Mexico so we could hook it up for the reception and play music from it. BIG MISTAKE!

I wasn’t completely dumb though and I bought a laptop combination lock and attached it to the bed. The second day I knew someone was screwing with it because the numbers were not on 0-0-0-0 anymore and it was lose. SO I hid it up in the closet and covered the lock & laptop up with blankets. Never had anyone find it there but either the maids left our patio open or someone else tried to get in.

Please leave all valuables at home!!! It’s not worth it.

  • 8 months later...

Is anyone else freaked about all the theft that goes on at the resorts in Mexico. I've been reading reviews on Tripadvisor about various Riu resorts in Mexico and there are several guests who have had things stolen from their room. It's not just money or jewelry, it's clothes, makeup....you name it. I would feel really bad if I my guests had items stolen from their room. It doesn't seem fair that they lock up all of their goods and padlock the closet but that may be the only guarantee that stuff doesn't go missing.

Should I stop reading the reviews and focus on the positives? I know people are more likely to complain than give a positive review.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
